I'd take England to find a way - possibly grimly, possibly easily - past a side with no real record of achievement. I would love to be wrong, but expectation management is important, we were 90 seconds from an impromptu night of wild celebration, and we have another fortnight of this before the final. Where I fully expect Captain Kane, Sir Harry, to lead his charges out against...hopefully someone good who won't let them off the hook like these Ruriatarian farmers did today.

If he gets to lift the trophy he might take it back to Connemara to show his people.

I reckon this could be like when Putin invaded South Ossetia and won without a shot being fired.

I'm sure there's better odds for Putin puling out of the Ukraine tomorrow, after making a public announcement while blubbering like a little girl and stating that he's had a 'crisis of conscience', and then ordering the Russian troops to apologize and hug and kiss every Ukrainian family they encounter on their way out.

Who gives a single toss about records though?

Do you think Georgia are looking at this game going "oh well might as well give up, Spain are traditionally a finals side"? No, they're looking at ways to win a game, knowing it's unlikely, and not because they're not here usually but because they're up against a much better team.
