There's no need for anybody to be doing any mental maths here.

We're getting a back-up full-back/wing-back in on loan, for very cheap wages, with an option to buy at the end.

He's experienced in the PL, played in the Champions League, and the DoF knows his character well.

This is a squad-filler, because we need two players per position, and not be shifting Godfrey to LB if we have one injury which in turn ruins the entire defence.

No we don't, as Nkounkou is not good enough and is up for sale/loan, while in the last 12 months of his deal. The club have made their mind up, we'll actually make some money on Nkounkou if he goes.

We have no other senior LB at the club.

Neither is this lad.

I won't go to the extremes of davek but he's not PL quality.

Hes a good age too.

Yes but we're stretched very thin financially mate. So what would you rather have, a player capable of playing LB/LWB to a decent standard, as back up for Mykolenko (who himself is very raw), on a very cheap deal for a season, or having to play Godfrey LB if Myko is injured/suspended?

Also, if we're playing 5 at the back, which we are going to a lot you'd imagine, then how does that work if Myko is out?

This deal is costing us, supposedly, £16k a week in wages, maybe a tiny loan fee on top if that. It's fine and it's been done quickly. He's cover and it means money is still saved for other positions of vital need.

I think it'll be for both to be honest. It gives a few options. Canny signing
I just don't think Myko is physical enough to play LCB and as it stands we have 5 actual CBs so there's no need for him to.

Of course, one of those 5 CBs could well be sold, so yes we have options if needed. But Myko is first-choice LB/LWB and this lad is rotation.

Yep I think you're right, but it does give that other option too as you don't need to be that physical in a 3. Wrt the amount of CBs I'm hoping that will be trimmed down by one Keane.

Low risk, low wages. Don't know much about him but its a fairly sensible and safe transfer that gets us away from having to play players, who are already bad enough in their natural positions, out-of-position if Myko/Patterson/Coleman are out.

Quick, attacking left wing back with potential to improve further, and is better back up than what we have at the club. No brainer really. Bet his wages are absolute peanuts and doubt the agreed fee will be north of about £8m.

Sensible signing, lets us spend what little actual money we have elsewhere.

Can play LB/LM adds some depth to the side has premier league experience and still young for penny’s really compared to what most premier league players earn not bad to add extra legs but we seriously need some new first team players.
