Haha, different experiences there. Whenever I went, Widnes always seemed to play them around may/June and be nice. The is only wakefields and castlefords like that in super league now isn’t there? Hopefully get to go again before they close down.
I’d say so. I still haven’t done castleford that’s on the list . Are they building a new ground ? Hull kr is another I want to do . got Leeds booked for the World Cup

Something nostalgic about the old grounds. Can remember going to Hunslet, Bramley, Dewsbury, Blackpool Borough as a child. Never went to Huyton though which I understand was an experience

Oh yeah forgot about Hull KR now that is an away day experience, or it used to be. Think Cas are building a new one but saying that for years.

The away end in Headinley is shocking in the winter. Out in the open.

Don’t think Huyton exsisted when I was born but been to Hunslet and Dewsbury. Great times.

Oh dear, found dead on holiday in Italy. only 40 years old.

On a related union note, Eddie Jones has had words with Aus fans (no link), and former Wales captain Ryan Jones diagnosed with early Alzheimers, only 41.

Looks like Kai Pearce Paul and Will Pryce are the latest to be lost to the NRL. That both are very young should be a worry as they seem to be leaving earlier and earlier. How much longer do we continue having financial restraints imposed by the smallest clubs in the league who have shown absolutely no capacity to grow since Super League has existed?

Of course, it's not just the players either, with Lee Briers announcing his departure as well.

The decline of Rugby League in this country over the last 10 years is an absolute embarrassment.

How some of these clubs are still professional will never know. From the standard on and off the pitch falling, to the way it’s been run from the RFL to the presentation on sky. It’s very sad to see the decline of once such a great sport and it’s only going to get worse.

Can’t blame these coaches and young players leaving the game to go to the NRL or union.

Can only comment on how much the sport as declined in Widnes within the last 20 years, god knows what it will be like in another 20 years in this town. It’s mad to think how many kids from Widnes who are great young players are playing there trade for St. Helens, Wigan and Warrington.

It's probably telling that in the 26 competitions since the introduction of Super League and the salary cap, just 4 teams have won it, with those 4 teams contesting all but 9 of the finals between them. It's even worse when you think Bradford last won the title in 2005, and since then Leeds have won 7 titles, Saints 5, and Wigan 4. In the same timeframe, 9 clubs have won the NRL Grand Final. It's marginally better in the Challenge Cup, with both Hull and Wire managing to win a few times, but even then, since 2005 only 6 teams have managed a win, so half of Super League have done bugger all for an absolute age.

If the idea is to create a competitive sport, it's failed miserably, and instead all it's done is ensure that the best players now inevitably ply their trade down under.

Not sure how many of you follow the NRL but this was some awful news yesterday.

I seen that yesterday mate, very sad indeed. Funnily remember him playing for Cronulla in the mid to late 90’s. That North Queensland premiership winning team he coached was a great team to watch.
