I’ve seen teams play their way into form over a tournament previously and I think they’re capable of beating anyone on a 1 off occasion if they do. I also think some of the more fancied northern hemisphere teams have an Everton style history of always being nearly men and failing when it matters. England general seem to turn up in world cups apart from the recent World Cup at home.
It does feel like most of the games between tier 1 and tier 2 nations have been absolute mullerings
Not real games at all.
Game of the tournament for me so far was easily Wales V Fiji as it wasn’t super one-sided
I think at the time of that game the World rankings had Fiji at 7 , Australia 8 , Wales 9 so on paper these games are likely to be close . Georgia , also in the Group, were about 12 th I think . They certainly make for more interesting and entertaining games if the sides are closely matched.
