Rugby World Cup 2023

That was a phenomenal game of rugby. SA sacrificed a quality kicker and a decent replacement hooker to go with absolute power, I think it backfired tonight but may not later on.

Ireland got very few opportunities to really open up SA but did for the try. Both these sides are playing at a level only France can match at the moment.

I hope Dupont gets back to play later in the tournament because there is a cigarette paper between these 3 sides.

A wonderful tournament so far.

We’ve seen many time’s before, England and NZ at the last World Cup as perfect examples, world cups aren’t won at this stage. It’s the teams who are fresher, playing well and handling pressure who win when the latter stages of these big events come along.

I still think it’ll be one of the southern hemisphere (SA or NZ) teams who’ll win this. All the European sides bar England, always do an Everton when it really, really matters.

They have decent kickers who can come in, they just chose not to play them tonight but they’re good players who won’t weaken the team in anyway if selected.
Most of the “ 7:1” discussion was around the power 7 forwards brings second half, forgetting the the weakness it brings to the backs eg ability to change out a kicker from the bench.

The good thing for Ireland as opposed to England at the last World Cup is that Ireland have plenty of time to recover. England only had a wee after trouncing NZ and that’s what did them in.

Brilliant game of rugby but we (Ireland) have won nothing yet. Bar a Scottish miracle its a quarter match up against New Zealand and we all know the respective histories of our two countries.

Personally im just so made up seeing a team compete so well against everything thrown at them in the last few years. With the provincial academy systems well set up it bodes well for the future.

Ireland have nothing to fear against the Kiwis based on recent history.
