Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
Please, please, please can we do something about this dire England team now? Scotland are whipping boys of international rugby and we didn't make a single break or create a single chance.

Poor at the break down and zero creativity in midfield. Surely now is the time to jettison the woeful midfield of Wilkinson, Flood and Noon? Aside from a good opening against Italy they've created nothing in four matches.

At least I am saved the disappointment of this due to my total lack of knowledge of rugby.

Though anything involving hookers is usually worth a few minutes of my time.

Sad thing is that the girl you posted up earlier is probably in better shape than the hookers in our team. I know some Aussie rugby fans and they regularly tease the slowness of the England team and it's true. Forwards and backs are so ponderous.

Oh well, Wigan play Castleford in a minute so hopefully I'll see some decent athletes capable of running with the ball rather than kicking it away. It's a sad thing when Brian Moore is bemoaning the lack of running rugby because the team from his era were worse than most for playing ten man rugby.

Still, at least Sir Jonny passed Neil Jenkins world points scoring record today. Jenkins was another slow plodder who's only use was in kicking goals. Must be something in that.

Bruce, don't bother looking at the cricket either mate, white flag run up there as well(n)

Well exactly the same happened there. Nasser Hussain instilled a real winning spirit in the team, which Vaughan added a touch of class to thus leading the team to the Ashes. Hey ho, an open top bus tour and bang goes our will to win. We bottle several winning positions in the sub-continent, get thrashed in the Ashes return and are now getting drubbed by ordinary sides like NZ.

Open top bus tours should be banned along with crappy autobiographies midway through a career. Bloody well get on with your job and reflect back at the end of your career. The Aussies must laugh their socks off at what a bunch of soft tosspots we are. For them success is measured in years of dominance, not the odd win here and there, the remainder of a career spent cashing in on the moment in the sun.

michael 'bit dodgy even without the gold sneakers' johnson got it right about our athletics, in britain a top talent is a celebrity before they win anything meaningful, whereas in the U.S being a top talent is all very well, but the money and the kudos comes with the wins at the top level.

you appear to know your rugby bruce, how often do the get drugs tested?

Agree with every word of that. England got totally carried away with a one off series win back in 2005 and have fallen away badly.

I don't think rugby players are tested much at all, and if they are then it's easy enough to circumnavigate the testing. It's certainly not as rigorous as sports such as cycling.

Andrew Johns for instance revealed last year after his retirement that he took ecstacy and 'other drugs' throughout his career and was never caught by a test. Incidently in his ten year career he was tested just seventeen times, always on match days. Different code but it wouldn't surprise me if the same wasn't true in Union.

I suspect a great many sports are happy to brush the issue under the carpet.
