All the new facilities UEFA or FIFA or the IOC generally asks for are a great propaganda machine and an easy way for the mob to launder more money. That’s why the world’s worst countries keep bidding on these events. (As opposed to when a USA or England does it, because they hardly have to build anything.)

Ha ha. What makes you think I am "bothered"? I love Dave - unquestionably the best wind-up merchant on this board (and, arguably, the sanest and most bravely outspoken voice of on many matters discussed on this forum). If he has decided to temporarily join the FSB for the purposes of frightening the horses here, hey, what can I say? Maybe he was watching Channel 1 Russia from a Premier Innski in St. Petersburg.

Regarding Ukrainian propaganda, I don't disagree with you. But if we genuinely want to talk honestly about this issue, rather than simply taking the piss, let's call a spade a spade and a war a war. Or are we actually denying that it is a war now?

No, I'm watching (unfortunately) the BBC. Their "journalists", like Lyce Doucet (or Lies Doucet as I call her) often use the term.

I am, of course, at liberty to check out what other news channels like CNN, ITV and Russia Today describe the conflict as.

One thing I will say is that while I have no issue with cutting off Russia Today, why was Fox News tolerated for so long on Sky in the UK? Oh, wait, I can answer that myself...

The singling out of Russia Today and amnesia about Fox is similar to what has happened to Abramovich and Usmanov. They get - rightly - sanctioned, but the Saudis at Newcastle and the Arabs at City are, apparently, fit and proper. Massive double standards at play in this special military operation war.
