He's been so long out of European competition he doesn't even know what it's called lol

In all seriousness though, someone needs to tell him as it can come across a wee bit small time like.

Nah it’s alright. We can forget about it after Thursday.

As long as he doesn’t call it the AF Cup or something.

When Allardyce's name was announced as Everton's new manager, there was genuine warmth in the ovation that swept around the stadium.

He did not exactly look over his shoulder to see if a club legend had appeared behind him but Allardyce seemed slightly taken aback by the greeting he received, an arms aloft gesture changing to a fist-pump as all four sides of Goodison Park broke into loud applause.

There was applause for him around the stadium, but there were also a lot of people who sat in their seats and remained silent - no clapping, just silent protest.

My nephew met Big Sam in the Park End car park before the match and he said he came across as the most genuine and down-to-earth fella you could wish to meet. He said he was posing for autographs and photographs for a good half an hour.

He also spoke about the great Everton teams of the past and of his close friendship with Reidy.

Top bloke.

He was similarly charming when my cousin met him.

Anyone reckon they can get his derby record up?

Like when he was at Sunderland, how did he fair against the horse-punchers?

Who even are rival teams of Palace, West Ham, Blackburn and Bolton and how did he faire against them?

Ohhh, sounds like a challenge, here we go :

Palace, didnt play any Derbies in his spell.

Sunderland
Sunderland 3–0 Newcastle United
Newcastle United 1–1 Sunderland

Whammers
Millwall 0–0 West Ham United
West Ham United
2–1 Millwall
He got on the main utterly dicked in his Premier League derbies versus Spurs and Chelsea, Millwall, Spurs and Chelsea are considered Whammers Derbies

Dont think he played any Derbies at Blackburn

Newcastle
Sunderland 1 – 1 Newcastle United

Bolton's main rivals historically have been with near neighbours Bury, though this has lessened since the Second World War as the two clubs have rarely been in the same league. The club also has a rivalry with Preston north end and Blackburn Rovers, as the two sides are separated by just fifteen miles and are both founder members of the Football League, as are Preston north end.[61][62] More recently, Bolton have developed an enmity with Wigan Athletic, whose fans generally regard Bolton as their main rivals.[63] Bolton fans maintain a mutual dislike with the fans of Tranmere Rovers,[64] Burnley,[65] and Wolverhampton Wanderers

SWERVE THEM BELLS

Notts County view their main rivals as neighbours Nottingham Forest. However, during recent stints in the lower levels of the Football League, rivalry has increased with Nottinghamshire neighbours Mansfield Town. Other clubs sharing local rivalries with Notts County are Derby County, Leicester City, Lincoln Cityand Chesterfield.

And them

Mixed bag really.

I'm genuinely pleased to have him rather than going for another foreign manager that's done ok at a mediocre club.
I think he sees this as an opportunity to win big, instead of a remit of fighting relegation. He should have resources he's never been given before and I think that along with his tactical awareness and player motivation will be exciting to see.
