Sad fact is we have no target for Rory's ace throw ins. We start moving the bus around the 70 minute mark and then only two show up. What a weapon though.

..we shall see, Matey. I wasn’t particularly in favour of him coming here but I recognise the job he’s done with this group of players. If he sees out his contract its an indication we’ve improved. If things go relatively well, I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually gets a contract extension. I expect Moshiri has been stung by how difficult it was to get a new manager after Koeman and might not be in a hurry to go through that again, especially if the ground build is progressing.

This is spades......exactly my feeling as well. Its a results game, and I get the feeling that Sam would like a crack at next season with a squad that he mostly liked. I don't think we will be Man City by then, but we may get a shot of doing better in Europe(we wouldn't concede many away from home!) if we can get up there this season, and statistically we are in with an excellent chance. As long as performance and results give Sam the confidence to drive forward sensibly we have an interesting season end to look forward to. The season is certainly not over.
Not surprising that we agree on this Eggs, we've both watched/played football for probably over a century between us, and we recognise Sams basic,tradional qualities as a manager, which is somehow a refreshing change from the fancy dan approach of 'rising managerial stars' with foreign names. Sam belongs to the George Graham, Harry Catterick, Harry Redknap, even Alex Ferguson old school of common sense in football management.

I was nodding in agreement there Steve, then I remembered the three DM staring the game at Bournemouth.

And the ultra negative tactics both there and at Baggies.

Those guys you mention would not have went out looking to draw in games against struggling teams when we were on a bit of a roll.

Well, George Graham might have....and given the ignominy which blighted George's career, maybe Sam has more in common with him than he had with Harry Catterick

A reasonable suggestion...but Catterick,Ferguson etc had better material to work with than Sams inheritance.

Sorry Steve, you've got two out of four right there! There are definitely comparisons between our current manager and Graham and Redknapp most of which come via a brown paper bag! There is no comparison whatsoever with Harry Catterick or Alex Ferguson - he is not fit to lace their (managerial!) boots!

Not neccesarily in quality but certainly in style. I think Sam is intent on proving that he is more than a firefighter, and we may well see managerial skills that have not been evident previously. I think he'll do the 18 months, at least.
