Reality of the situation is, we now sit 13th on 15 points.

We play Huddersfield Saturday - who we have now gone above - and if we win that, we'll be on 18 points, good enough for 9th.

9th, results willing, a win behind Watford and two behind Spurs.

This is the easiest money he'll make since him and his kid starting taking backhanders.

Overachieved?!

This league is hopeless beyond 6 teams. We're two points off top half now....in a "crisis".

WTF is the point in changing managers if he cant kick us on a few places with a lot more resources at his diposal than the caretaker had?

The gap between the top 6 and the rest will be massive this year IMO, unless Burnley carry on as they are and finish on similar points to what we did last season.

Due to the bad start we will be lucky to get and I would take 7th or 8th now if offered and a decent FA cup run.

We are three points from 9th with four teams ahead of us with worse last 5 PL match form than us and they're there to be taken down immediately; we have a team with its tail up; we have a raft of players to come back from long term injury; we have a January window coming up.

You are having a laugh if you think we are in a bad place and need desperate measures and our objective is to merely bump along above the relegation zone.

Sorry my friend, that is just not going to fly.

Good luck to him. I mean that btw.. I want him to get in here and get us top half and keep us there. That's what the manager's job entails at this club MINUMUM. But if he falls short of that it's failure and he has to be fired at the end of the season.

He has a fair wind at his back here. If he is any sort of decent manager at all he'll get us into the top ten. If not, Adios.

Indeed. This is the easiest job in the Prem. We went 5 weeks without panicking, then some fans and the owners hit the red button........

I fear with Walsh, Allardyce, Lee and Shakespeare it's all looking like a club for the mediocre and men supping in the last chance saloon.

This does not feel progressive. It's a retrograde step back to the 80s. It has that sort of bluffer feel to it.
We'll be treading water for 18 months.

I just can't see him and his gang being here too long at all.

He'll probably stabilise a ship that wasn't as unstable as we all feared anyway, and that will be about it. Then we can move on again.

But we won't see much progression for a little while. Best to get used to that idea for a bit.

To me, the squad is ridiculously fragile and not good so needed someone who'll be able to control that.

If we'd have got a manager in that didn't know how to handle a fragile team, we'd fall down again.

Case in point last night. If that penalty went in, we more than likely would've folded.

Getting a Silva or "insert top manager who was dying to come here" merrigoround still poses a worry that they can't deal with a flakey side, which we are.

Sam does and will. He's only here until next season and is what I've said all along...if he builds up a solid foundation, we can move on afterwards.

We've taken a step back 2 seasons under Koeman IMO. Now we've pressed a reset button.

Agree until that last bit! How in hell did we take a step back under Koeman last season when he improved our league placing and got us back into Europe?

The mind boggles!

Exactly mate.

It was like we were gliding serenely and gently applying pressure to get the preferred outcome, then someone lost their nerve and jumped overboard.

Two big losses bookended this saga: the Arsenal thumping saw Koeman dumped; the S'ton thumping saw Allardyce brought in.

We have a knee jerk owner here. No question.

Even Kebab Head knows he's getting binned in the Summer, but because have flapped it he's milking us for every last penny (and who can blame him). As i said before, easiest dough he'll ever make this and if he's got anything about him we'll finish comfortably top half.

Meh. It would be peak Everton if, after last night, we get seen off by Huddersfield in 'Big' Sam Allardyce's first game in charge.
