The problem with Eto'o is that he doesn't have the legs anymore. He would much rather come deeper and collect the ball, than chasing after a pass. That's why he's been playing in behind the striker.

Honestly though, if we had a good replacement lined up, I wouldn't begrudge him leaving. Think when he plays it forces us to play Barkley and Naismith out of position, giving us no width at all.

Personally regardless of if he plays every game or none from now till his contract is up I want him at Everton. His experience is absolutely priceless for our younger players even if he himself isn't doing it on the pitch. Can never understate the importance of having someone there who's won it all.

Phil Neville lol
Know what you mean tho, he likes to get involved and tell the younger lads where to run and we need his experience

If Martinez is not going to play him upfront then we may as well move him on. He's a striker being asked to play in a deeper role and it's not really working for him. Personally I'd keep him because once Europe starts again we may need the different options of Lukaku, Kone and Eto'o.

I'd be of the opinion that Eto'o in last seasons squad with our players in better form would have made a huge difference.

This season he is getting lost in the general malaise and he doesn't have the options when he wants to pick a pass, and pick a decent pass he can.

If you are of the opinion that we will come good again under Martinez, which I am, then he will become very important in key games later this season I think like in Europe as you say. His attitude is bang on, showed plenty of urgency when he came on against Wham.

Couldnt agree more bud

I think Saha had a bigger positive goal contribution compared to Eto'o comparing their appearances at the moment.

but he will never be Eto'o

could we please play him where he is most effective - in the box.
see Krasnodar away

Eto'o is the one who doesnt see himself as a striker anymore and Martinez is indulging him
