It’s essentially a meaningless record because Rooney is England’s top scorer yet scored about 6 goals at tournaments and about 15 of his 53 goals were against top 10 ranked teams. Kane has actually scored important goals in tournaments and against top sides. I will die on the hill that Rooney was utter crap for England despite being the “record scorer”.
