Sandhills station

The restrictions are draconian and illogical anyway, regardless of the new ground, they make zero sense for the businesses who were already there, and no economic sense for the area that will be under massive redevelopment. Rotherham needs sacking tbh.

There is no way after last night that the restrictions can stand, particularly as there are no suitable pubic transport options available for the foreseeable. Add thousands more Evertonians and a few thousand away supporters into the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster.

I was planning on using the soccerbus from commutation row after parking the car in lime street, but I ended up late, so parked and jumped into a taxi. Cost me a tenner to get to regent Road and jump out near the Costco, due to the road closures, so had to walk most of the way. Ridiculous - the taxi driver was going mad as well to be fair to him.

Leaving the ground, I had an idea that Sandhills would be a mess, so I made the kids walk ball along regent road back to town. Took me a little longer than if I was on my own, but it wasn’t too bad tbh, bit nippy weather wise and the kids moaning didn’t help! 🤣

Nothing but positive things to say about our new home, it’s a magnificent football ground, we were awe struck, and the concourses and food were great.

It’s World class.

The transport and draconian road closures are the only issue and need addressing quickly, hopefully the feedback from the test event will drive the changes needed.
Get Burnham in and quick, bring a blue home😉🤣🤣🤣👍

One solution to the Sandhills capacity issue would be to have passengers wishing to travel on the Southport line board at Bank Hall instead, whilst those wishing to travel towards Ormskirk or Headbolt Lane could board at Sandhills.

The platform at Bank Hall is relatively large and always seems fairly quiet, unlike Sandhills were the platforms aren't particularly wide and tend to be busy.

As for heading towards the City Centre, a new bus route or shuttle buses would probably be the way to go. The walk into the City Centre isn't too bad for those who can manage it and makes for a rather nice stroll during the day.

The other solution, which has been discussed before, would be a new Vauxhall station near Boundary Street.

Bit nicer tbf, Chester
Theres about one train a week over this side of the Wirral. None of the connections are ever slick, with long waits. Get off at James St and hike or another connection to Sandhills.
They just need to relax the parking and let us figure it out as we have for years. Thousands going down the tunnel everyvweek. Never home latrr than 6pm on a 3 kick off

I know a number of Barrovians who go the game.

Going to be moving up there soon hopefully.

Have heard there’s a coach of fans that go down every weekend which could come in handy but I do really enjoy that train journey. Especially when the connecting train from Lancaster is cancelled and I get an hour in that boss pub.

Walk to James Street and train back over is our plan once we move

I think Andy Burnham and Steve Rotherham should be invited the next test event with a view to discussing the transport strategy. Maybe the 1878 group could invite them and be party to the discussion. Burnham and Rotherham seem to have a decent relationship so that could work.

Only about 6 months until the new season starts and we need urgent transport solutions.

Did anyone get the shuttle bus to/from Commutation Row? Would be really interested in anyone’s feedback

My 80 year old Dad isn’t going to be able to hike all the way back into town so parking around Lime Street and taking the shuttle bus might be our best bet…
I got the bus from there going to the match, worked quite well. Multiple buses, that leave once full. Drops you off outside the Chinese restaurant on boundary street. Only issue was your at liberty to the traffic, it was rush hour yesterday so we were probably on it about 20 mins.

Where are the away supporters coaches going to park? I suppose they will be exempt from the parking restrictions. Madness from the council.
