Sandhills station

Did Sandhills have gates to stop people reaching the platform away from going through the pig pen?

Mr Drone took this yesterday and it appeared there was nothing stopping you from walking up through the other route. Okay there may have been temp barriers but is that going to hold back anyone drugged up to their eyeballs? To me needs some heavy duty gates on the normal access path.

The pig pen is segregated into lines depending on the train, yet eventually they reach the same location - the lower steps before the ticket office.

There were quite a few stewards at this point (the gates and end of the ramp) alongside BTP officers. Once you're on the property, laws and byelaws come into force.

If someone does act up, they will get locked up.

4.1 No person shall enter, attempt to enter or remain on the railway where that person is
unfit to enter or remain on the railway as a result of being in a state of intoxication.
4.2 No person shall enter, attempt to enter or remain on the railway while in possession of
an open container of alcohol, unless expressly permitted to do so by the Operator in a
particular area.
4.3 No person shall consume alcohol on the railway, unless expressly permitted to do so
by the Operator in a particular area.
4.4 Without prejudice to Byelaws 4.2 and 4.3, where reasonable notice is, or has been,
given prohibiting alcohol on any train or on any part of the railway, no person shall have
any alcohol with him on such a train or any part of the railway, or attempt to enter such
a train or any part of the railway, whilst in possession of alcohol.
4.5 Where an authorised person reasonably believes that any person is unfit to enter or
remain on the railway or is in contravention of any provision of Byelaw 4, the authorised
person may:
(i) require him to leave the railway; and
(ii) prevent him entering or remaining on the railway until the authorised person is
satisfied that he is in a fit state to enter or remain on the railway and is no longer in
contravention of any provision of Byelaw 4.

5 Unfit to be on the Railway
No person shall enter or remain on the railway if, in the reasonable opinion of an
authorised person, he is in an unfit or improper condition or his clothing may soil
or damage any part of the railway or the property or clothing of any person on the
railway.

6.5 No person shall damage or detach any part of the railway.
6.6 No person shall spit on the railway.

6.8 No person shall molest or wilfully interfere with the comfort or convenience of any
person on the railway.

Unfortunately merseyrail is the worst rail network in the county and will collapse under any extra demand.

Rotherham has his head in the sand. He’s caused this with rushing through the new trains when they weren’t ready and the implementation of head bolt lane has been a disaster and trains are constantly delayed or cancelled.
Weren’t ready or fit for purpose.

King's dock had the space & room ..... BMD ? Maybe in the future or not ..... I will never ever forgive BK for back then 30 million of outside investment was needed for the Kings Dock & he did not want to lose his train set !
I agree on your later point, like most will - but the transport issues at BMD are not down to Kenwright.

The Mayor's office are in the crosshairs on this as the people in charge of Merseytravel - and they need to remain the focus of fan complaints because only they can improve the situation.

I think this transport thing is a big own goal tbh. It’s meant to be a bit of a destination for visitors to the city as well as a stadium for big events, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s overlooked for some concerts etc for that reason.
Personally, I think this ends with a new station between Moorfields and Sandhills. That may be a decade or more off - but especially with the Central Docks development upcoming, the area needs better provision.

For me the transport issue was the only negative last night.

They have a chance to turn it around and drop that stupid parking restriction all year round which will strangle good businesses in the area.

In his latter years in his Chairmanship role - he as chairman should have sorted Transport out as he took over the end job of finishing BMD - sorry, but again it's down to his poor business acumen - I suppose you did not read about his dodgy made up loans that near bankrupted our club with Moshiri either ...
An utter disaster of a Chairman sold most of his shares at the right time too .... he has to be blamed for lack of transport to BMD as he was in control of the stadia all the way through as Chairman ... he even concentrated on his last era of completing BMD before dying ....

So sorry it's down to him & then our owner too at that time ..... a new stadia surely good transport system was high on the list & should have been negotiated ?

Okay, Joey. You rage at a dead man and see if that fixes the situation.

And there are people on here who still want to name a stand after him.

If he had not had the misfortune to die, he would be being questioned over a lack of transport as Chairman - it's your role to organise it well in hand as the plans for BMD were submitted?
It's straight forward business sense, it should have been organised & signed in a contract with Mersey council .... well in advance mate ....

I think you've selected Bill as the person to blame rather than LCRCA, or the owner, or the CEO, or the stadium director because you don't like Bill, Joey.

It's your prerogative.

But you're directing your rage at the wrong target. One that can't hear you, and couldn't do anything to fix it even if he could.
