My gaydar always pointed at Stuart Ripley.

100% spot on. Used to work in the motor trade, mainly driving and shizzle, so anyway, I end up in this Car Dealership in Blackburn, ive gotta hang around for something, so I chat with the valeters.

So we get on to football and they say Ripley is always in getting his car fixed and stuff. They say he was openly gay, used to come in with his fella and stuff, always had condoms in his car.

So your gaydar is spot on.

what i wonder about the chanting is this :

when the fans are singing that someone is gay and the player takes the knock about it.
which is homophobic ? the song or the bloke who is offended by it ?
cos isn't he being homophobic by being offended by the suggestion.

Remember lads, if you are gay always rubber up.

Plus at your age its still illegal, and some of those guys in prison don't care how old you are.

Or if you're gay.

as far as i can recall justin fashanu is the only gay player i can remember and im 38.... oh and straight:lol:

There will be very few, if any, gay footballers. Only 6% of the population - according to government* figures - are homosexual. Which equates to 60 professional footballers in english football.

There are unlikely to be 6% of the football playing population that are gay, just as there are unlikely to be only 6% of theatre luvvies that are gay (try 96%).

It might sound a generalisation but think back to the 'camp' or any gay people you knew at school. Were they into playing football? Nah.

As a gay friend I have is quite fond of saying "Gays. We don't like football, but we looooove fashion."

* Possibly somebody else

But you're talking about "gay" (John inman) rather than homosexual (Dr David Starkey), aren't you? You've only got to look at how many many switch to homosexuality when they're in all male environments to see a difference between types. I'm sure the figure is far higher than 6%, it's just that only 6% identifies himself as that solely. There are a lot of grey areas with sexuality.
