Also why is it always the same story??? Can they not get creative and do an eastenders style of nativity play?
Went to my little grandson’s nativity play last week. The story was combined with a “Strictly Come Dancing” theme and the whole thing was called “Lights, Camel, Action” which delighted my grandson as he was a Camel. He and his camel mates performed “ The Funky Camel” with more shades than “Straight Outta Compton”.Herod, the Innkeeper and a Donkey were the judges. It was a fantastic show with about 6 separate performances ( Angels, Innkeepers, Shepherds & sheep etc). Joseph acted like he was at an Irish shotgun wedding but otherwise all great.
No charge, free mince pies, filming aloud but a warning not to share on social media. Lovely time had by all.

I’ve been informed I need to pay to go and watch my lad dress up as a sheep. Absolute disgusting. Can’t take photos or film as other parents are worried that other parents might be dangers.

Don’t know whether to go now. I’ve paid as they said the money is going to charity but might make a stand and join the picket line.
Being required to pay is a disgrace, especially with the cost of everything at the moment. With a guaranteed audience, it shouldn't take too much imagination to make a bit of money out of it without requiring people to pay.

Of course, schools are up against it financially with energy costs, agreed staff pay rises with no additional funding to cover them. Meanwhile, the government hands over millions to private companies under the guise of tutoring for COVID catch up.

The photos thing is most likely to be a safeguarding issue. If a family have moved to escape domestic abuse, they will want to prevent any chance of the children being identified at a named school which would give away their location. Social media and the ease of sharing photos mean this is more likely than in the past. Schools have to have parental permission for photos to be taken. If it isn't given, they can't just leave those children out of events like nativities so hence, no photos or videos.
