Scolari Sacked!

No doubt smiling all the way to the bank, with that payoff he could forget about football.

TBF though just half a season was not giving him long enough and add to that he could not sign up the players he wanted to stiffen the squad.

Just me that thinks Scolari was over-hyped and under-qualified?!...

Keep hearing about him winning the World Cup - but that's not exactly the hardest job to do with Brazil is it?... Even a final (at home) & semi with Portugal could be done by the most average of managers, such is the quality of the talent pool in both those countries.

His last club stints were in Brazil & the Middle East almost a decade ago, where not only is the style of football very different to the Premiership, he had a fraction of the expectation weighing him down than anyone hoping to follow in Mourinho's footsteps.

He won a lot of cups and minor (state) leagues in Brazil - he only ever won the Brazilian Serie A once in 1996.

I bet you Moyes' name pops up for the job....

They could do worse than Moyes. I think it might occur to Roman to take a step back and let a dynasty be built. If so, Moyes is a good choice. But I'm guessing his vanity and self-delusion will mean he goes for another big name, only for it all to go tits up again.

Personally, I think Grant did well. I know Grant was just an appointment made to steady the ship, but I think he deserved another season at the least. I like Grant.

Carlo Ancelotti will be there next coach i think with Gus Hiddink also being in the running. Crazy sacking really, it just makes me wonder how Rafael Benitez is still at Liverpool.

Mancini's out in the press already (well his agent has);

"Roberto would be more than interested in the job. England has always his been his first choice and it doesn't come much bigger than Chelsea," de Giorgis explained.

"We thought Scolari would get to the end of the season at least. But if they were thinking about Roberto then no-one has called us yet. We're hoping someone does, of course, but I don't know how they work there."

It looks like the ex-number 2 of Manure is having a hard time qualifying Portugal for the W.C.2010... never mind the semi-final or final.

In Brazil he won the south american equivalent to the Champions League.

Still I think that in Chelsea, no one will ever be enough for the job as long as Abramovich is there.

I think Queiroz is useless as a manager - couldn't handle it at Real and now struggling with Portugal, although the likes of Figo, Rui Costa, Pauleta & Costinha retiring since they made that final hasn't helped!...

As for winning the S.A. Champions League - Rafael's won the European one, clearly doesn't mean he's ever going to manage to win the Premiership!...

They shouldn't have sacked Grant - Terry was the muppet that cost them the C.L in the shootout, not the manager.

Noone picked up on Scottoffee's comment about Steve Clarke, but I think he has a point - he represented continuity and probably knew more about the existing playtesr than anyone - how to motivate Droghba, for example....hmmm, I feel an assistant managers thread coming on...
