To a degree that's correct mate, but for the average Joe in Europe and especially the US what's happening now is a 3-4 month old story. It's history goes back a lot lot longer than that though and that's understood by a lot of people in Russia.

Huge difference in understanding why something has happened and supporting or liking that it has.
