We got to hold it as well back in 1981, as was a ballboy at Hampden for Queen's Park from 80-82 and we also did all the cup semis and finals and Scotland games etc. We had to be there early and the trophy was sitting there and a guy from the SFA said it was ok to lift it but be very careful as its the oldest original trophy still in use in world football. Felt like an honour to actually lift it and then the following year in 1982 it was lying next to the pitch at the tunnel after the tv cameras had filmed it for some of their footage and then we touched it and got the biggest bollocking from this stupid jobsworth old cop cos we touched it lol as if he actually owned it!!! It was the original trophy we held, but they keep the original trophy in the Museum at Hampden and is only brought out on Cup Final day to present to the winning team and then is taken off them and theyre given the replica of it to parade round the pitch etc and then they get a replica of the trophy to keep. It was my Dads best pal, who was a jeweller in St Enoch Sq, who actually kept the original trophy maintained and they also make the replica tophies to be given to the winning teams and they still do to this day as far as im aware.I got to hold it in February 1987 when doing a tour of Celtic Park after Scotland v Ireland. Lovely trophy. Is this on TV ? BBC Scotland maybe?
EDIT found it _premier Sports 1. I don't have it.

You were sold a lie! lolAh so what I held was a replica then.
There was Cork Celtic as well. A load of Cork based league of Ireland teams, have come and went over the years. Waterford United had a serious team during that era as well.
Ah so what I held was a replica then.
More than likely, as am sure the original trophy got damaged sometime a while back and thats when they decided to only bring out the original to present to the winning team on cup final day, to keep it in good condition and doesnt get damaged again since its the oldest trophy in world footballAh so what I held was a replica then.
I got to lift the “ replica” a few years ago when Caley won it. A nice trophy but they we were clearly told it was a replica doing the rounds , makes sense.Ah so what I held was a replica then.
A good discussion about Simms there, highlighting his strengths.
I’d have Simms on our bench over the likes of Rondon and Tosun that we’ve wasted money on in recent years , but he’s not ready to start for us yet.We could do with him back if he is showing that kind of form. Like the way they called Everton a Massive club.
