And with a comprehensive 8-0 victory over Strathspey, Buckie Thistle move to the top of the Highland League on goal difference , 4 wins from 4 games, 12 points. Yesterday helped make up for the Villa defeat, good ground conditions despite the haar moving in later and at last Buckie seemed to have found a no9 in ex Elgin player Josh Peters . With increased fitness he looked the best player on the pitch first half , despite not scoring in a 2-0 half time lead . Then second half he scored 4 cracking goals in about 20 mins, lovely to watch .

I had a mate who played on the same footie team over here in Canada, Robbie Nichol think he played for Buckie back in the day, he moved back to Scotland about 15yrs ago

i think he was before I moved to this area but a quick bit of Google elimination came up with this from December 1996 , sounds like your man :
“ Elsewhere, Buckie Thistle's striking problem was starkly illustrated as another 40-year-old plus, Robbie Nicol, was forced into making a surprise comeback.

The Buckie assistant manager, who enjoyed a successful stint in Canadian football earlier in his career, rolled back the years with a stylish display, but could not prevent Clach cruising to a 2-0 win.”
