Two Scottish teams in the CL Group Stages

Hearts guaranteed at least Conference League

Scottish National Team making it to the World Cup play offs

The likes of Robertson, Tierney, McTomminay and Patterson holding down positions in English Premier League sides

Perhaps the shouts of Scottish football's demise were premature?
Motherwell and Dundee Utd might redress that balance.

Still shows that the "All Scottish sides are crap, we should never look at signing Scottish players. Scottish football is dead" stuff no longer has a place in 2022 anymore and anyone that thinks it is WAY behind the times

Dundee United managed to beat AZ at home too let's not forget until collapsing in the 2nd leg

No I think a lot of people are going to need to revisit their outdated bias and realise that the world has changed and they are in danger of being left behind

Well done to Rangers for last night. I hope both they and Celtic manage to leave a nose or two out of joint in the Group Stages. Even if they don't, just to be there at all is one in the eye for all of the Scottish games' detractors

The fact that you have to rack your brains to come up with a handful of Scottish top flight players in England when they were once commonplace sort of underlines why those *shouts* are right.

I'm a little bit ignorant on the history here, what makes you say that?
They had football fans led by a man called Billy Fullerton who was a member of the British Union of Fascists who recruited amongst Rangers fans. They celebrate him in a song The Billy Boys - which was adopted by the club as an anthem.

Anyway, it's not hard to research.

I was just answering a question as to why I couldn't congratulate them and never ever would.

They are in a group of clubs like Ferncevaros, Lazio, Franco-era Real Madrid who had links to this type of stuff....I'd also throw in Liverpool of the 1930s by virtue of the fact that their board were crawling with members of the Liverpool Working Mens Conservative Association which had morphed into a crypto fascist politics complete with straight arm nazi salute.

But I'm mindful of this being a Scottish football thread, so there I shall leave it.

Oh wow, if you know their history!

I'm sure the modern day fans are nice folk who would voluntarily cease singing said song if they were educated on the unfortunate connotations.

Am I right?

Kurt it's as real as Pontybodkin.

Thought so … shame really
It's real mate and it's on your doorstep, joking aside it's got great walks.

Scottish football's top two are in a healthy state, come what may that was some result last night.
