Celtic scored literally as I walked into the pub yesterday with my Rangers STH pal, his response as you could imagine was unprintable.
Celtic once again with a late goal.
It was inevitable that they would score with a few mins to go, was exactly what the sheep deserved tbh after deciding to sit back at home in there own penalty box from the first minute hoping to see if they could ride there luck and maybe get a draw!!
Thought Goodwin would've been a decent fit at Pittodrie but looks like he's going to be pretty much like the previous incumbents!!
He'll probably prove it on Tuesday when he'll have them all fired up for the only game that seems to matter to Aberdeen and their support every season!
Tinpot!!! ?

Mate we've heard the same complaint from Corky for years about Aberdeen, surely it's up to the coaching staff to get the Rangers team equally fired up and prepared for the game.
The players that the old firm are able to sign compared to the rest of the league they should be knocking them over every week instead of moaning at what's coming back the other way and equally the Don's managent should be firing them up for every game not just against the old firm.
Let's face it this fixture has been a firecracker for nearly 40 years since the tackle on Durrant.
As far as I'm concerned it's usually an incident packed game and a must watch.

Definitely, we should be ready for it everytime we play at Pittodrie, no excuses!!
It's just the obvious levels of effort when they play Rangers and leave everything on the pitch, whereas they seem to just bend over and take what's coming when they're up against celtic.

That tackle on Durrant does sadly seem to be the only thing that can justify any real label of a rivalry between both clubs, over the years they have used that incident to ramp up the teams motivation against Rangers and to enhance their perceived rivalry between the two clubs.

Aberdeen's record against celtic over the last few years is horrendous and the fact seems to be that Aberdeen as a club and a support seem to be content to accept regular pumpings from celtic as long as the team gives a performance when they play Rangers every season!!... as I said total Tinpot club!

It's a reasonable assumption, but in Scotland there are towns with league teams where the entire population is just a few thousand, and games attract less than 200 people.

The people that play for those teams all have full time jobs outside of football. Club turnover is counted in thousands of dollars per year. They cannot afford to hire transport, overnight accommodation, subsidise wages etc to travel to England every second week.

The TV market for what would essentially become 8th tier football is not a very large market.

So while it may seem a decent idea for the SPL teams, as soon as you go down the pyramid, it would likely cause clubs to go bust.

And all that is before you even begin to consider the politics of the different FAs and the wider ramifications it would have on them
Ah. I see. Yeah I guess that doesn’t really work does it? So the only real possibility is that perhaps the top couple Scottish teams could go join but that’s it. And perhaps that’s not even realistic. Then as you said if just the top team or two left to do it then I’m guessing there would be all kinds of politics involved in that one.

Yep. There are 3 main stumbling blocks to Celtic and Rangers joining the English leagues

1. They provide about 80% of all football related income in Scotland. It would destroy football in Scotland if they both left

2. Where in the English league would they start? Straight into the Premier league? League 2? Non league? Any option other than the very bottom tier is going to leave the FA open to all kind of lawsuits. Neither of them are going to join the very bottom tier.

3. Celtic and Rangers are massive clubs that within a few years would be challenging at the very top of EPL. The big 6 don't want more competition, they want less.

The rivalry has previous.
Stirred with your lot when we had the audacity to come down to Glasgow and act like we owned the place, like for years your lot did.
Anyway lots move on.
If you're venturing up ,you'll need your woolies on.
It's currently blowing a gale.
And that corner you get, which truthfully isn't fit for animals ,the North Sea wind will sort you out.
Here's to a good fiesty game.

Nah, work doesn't allow me to get to many away games these days and tbh not envious of the diehards that are heading up tonight.
Was up in Aberdeen at a wedding during the summer(The Marcliffe Hotel) and it was glorious weather all weekend, Tuesday night in December at Pittodrie isn't quite as appealing!! ?
Pretty sure it'll be feisty tonight and with everyone's favourite ref(Collum) in charge we can be sure of a few puzzling decisions, VAR will probably be crucial tonight!
