My brother moved to Dumbarton a few years back to be be closer to his daughter . has ST for Celtic , but doesn’t do aways anymore . Goes to watch Dumbarton at home when Celtic are either away or not playing . Loves it . Great wee hardy bunch of fans . Be a shame if they fold
The “ wee hardy bunch of fans” sums up so many Scottish clubs who are rooted in the community , those on GOT who just watch PL/ CL on tv and wander in here from time to time with their “ crap football/ farmers league” comments just don’t get it.
I often see that Scotland has the highest attendance per capita at football matches in Europe, the problem is that doesn’t translate directly into massive club funds. Most of the lower league clubs are highly dependent on sponsorship / support from local firms , fund raising by supporters and generous support from directors willing to put their own money in. Every so often it inevitably comes apart if a key aspect breaks down. I’m sure Dumbarton will survive, good luck to them.
