Boys, this debate/argument will never go away while humans are involved in decision making. Pre VAR we had "the referee's decision is final" officiating. Now we have a machine in the middle of some office somewhere which shows people in that office what's just happened, and then they make a decision in certain situations. Have we really improved things? Personally, I saw the introduction of VAR as the end of 'proper' football and I got shut of my season ticket then. Bring back Clive Thomas I say...

Steady on, Emlyn. Surely you haven't forgotten Main Road? 😮

VAR was supposed to eliminate any mistakes referees make in the heat of the moment. While it doesn't always seem work out that way, I think decisions are more likely to be correct with VAR than without it.

What get's me about TRFC fans is, one minute they'll tell you how a couple of slight tugs on their players shirts were stonewall penalties, then tell you how pushes, and trips, on opponents weren't fouls, and their goals should have stood.

I can only speculate as to how they would react if a Celtic player had used both hands to save a goal bound shot against them and no penalty had been awarded. 😏

There seems to be no consistency in their arguments. The only thing that is consistent is, they want absolutely everything their own way, and if they don't get it they scream "corruption".

I was being ironic when I mentioned him mate! I still think that VAR is just a ruse by Sky etc. The fact that (obviously) VAR cannot be extended throughout all organised football matches renders it as useless. The old, simple way was the best despite occasional clangers (provided those clangers were genuine of course). Players make mistakes, managers make mistakes. Referees make mistakes. Facts of life.
Whee I do agree with you is when certain clubs whinge out of all proportion when a decision/game doesnt go their way. I've watched and played football for a long time and I've never heard bleating like post Sunday from The Rangers. They lost and that's it, the officiating was rubbish, especially from the linesman on the same side as the TV cameras. Get over it.

The point that you and your ilk conveniently ignore is that Sunday was just a continuation of questionable decisions in Rangers/celtic games over the last few seasons that strangely always favours one team, celtic!

You need to be on the wrong end of these decisions on a regular basis to be in the position to 'whinge' about it, as you put it!

Rangers should be highlighting this continually from now on and put pressure on the SFA to sort out the chronic quality of refereeing in Scotland.

By the way, as another example of 'bleating' that you seemed to have missed?
Brenda on the rare occasion his team has to deal with decisions they deem 'questionable' has previous with calling out VAR, last season he was calling for
consequences for Beaton for having the audacity to correctly highlight his players 'head kick' on a Hearts player, which correctly led to referee Robertson🙄 sending him off!

Anyway I'm off to Ibrox just now to see what joys our 'friends' whithin the SFA have appointed to our game today!

It's fair to say that I've watched the Glasgow derby games since Sky started televising them. In the early days The Rangers had the advantage on the park and off (EBT, for which they were dissolved and started up under a new name), and Celtic cried foul (masonic refs etc), and were called paranoid. Now, Celtic have recovered from their own financial woes by paying their debts (not a facepainter's debt to be seen) and are now miles ahead of Sevco. Guess what? When Celtic beat The Rangers they whinge. The ref on Sunday was one John Beaton, a confirmed TRFC fan. Are you seriously saying that Beaton was biased towards Celtic? Do me a favour. The losing team always moans. Good luck this afternoon. Who are you playing?

Its not just in the SPL you get dodgy refereeing decisions!! Last week Queen's Park had 2 stonewall penalties in the 2-1 defeat away at Hamilton denied by the referee, who thought it was all about him, and then last night Queen's Park lost to Raith Rovers 2-1 at Hampden, with the game live on BBC Scotland, where Raith got a debatable penalty right at the end of the first half and then they got their winner where the ball was knocked down the wing by the Raith player and it rolled on with 2 players chasing it and the whole ball clearly went out of play near the corner flag with the QP player shielding it and then stopped as it was out and the Raith player just knocked it back in and continued play and scored and when he got interviewed after the gameeven admitted it was out of play when asked!!! The referees here outside the SPL are a complete joke.

Sportscene on early tonight, the bad VAR decisions continue in almost every game.
All joking aside surely things are going to come to a head real soon it's so much worse up here than it is in the EPL and that's saying something.
No, that won't happen untill a big decision goes against celtic, but that isn't happening any time soon! 🙄
