I'm sure he wouldn't have any issues with them if Rangers were top right now

Deflect, deflect, deflect

He's also quite right whatever his purpose in speaking out is, Brendan Rodgers fully agrees with him and this goes beyond just parochial disputes that so often plague Scottish football.

It's about moving the league in line with best practice but there are severe obstacles in the way, mostly financial, as unfortunately with several clubs finding balancing the books a tough job and tbh fairly cash strapped, it isn't exactly practical to rip up their pitches and just do away with the extra revenue brought in.

Ross County 2 East Fife 1. A disappointing result from the Fife in the Challenge Cup semi-final. They gave a much-changed Staggies side far too much respect and didn't really get going until it was too late. Good goal to pull one back when it looked like it might become a cricket score, and a nailed-on pen was inexplicably not given by the ref who was just a few yards away. While the scoreline was kept respectable, it's a pity that the Fife couldn't replicate something like their league form in this televised game. Connah's Quay & Edinburgh City duke it out tomorrow to see who faces Ross County in the final.

we all laugh at this, but didnt Rangers get four or five penalties yesterday?

Do you also laugh when a man who supports a football team is allowed to referee their matches, allows an opposition player to stand on an opponent, kick another one in the nut cluster, and grab another players General de Gaulle's without even talking to him? The ref then went into a well know Rangers boozer and posed for photos with the Rangers supporters. When his decisions are highlighted in the media, the SFA compliance officer asked him to look at the decisions, but he told her he saw all the incidents, and there is no call cite the player for his actions.

At the very least, his behaviour has been unprofessional. I would have expected other managers to ask this referee if their players can stand on, kick, and fondle, opponents safe in the knowledge he won't take any action against them, or if this luxury is reserved for players from one club? Bearing mind he gave a Celtic player a straight red card for dissent a few weeks before his performance at Ibrox, it does look like he employs differing criteria when making decisions, depending on which side has committed the offence.

This situation would never arise in England, where referees are asked which team they support, and are not allowed to officiate at that clubs games. In Scotland, the media throw their hand s up in horror at this, as if it's some outrageous slur on the integrity of our impartial officials, who can't be influenced by any outside factors, according to them anyway.

A more cynical guy than me could get the impression if they brought this professional system that England employs up to Scotland, we'd be left with only a handful of referees to handle Rangers games.

They did, but st mirren didnt have a shot on target, some of the celtic fans reaction on twitter etc is pure comedy gold

On the evidence of that game, St Mirren are the worst team I've seen at Celtic park all season.

Although Celtic have won every home game, domestically, other teams have at least out up a fight. Obviously there is a vast difference in finances between the clubs, and Celtic would be expected to ebat St Mirren every time the clubs play, but other club have competed with Celtic, and St Mirren drew with Celtic earlier in the season, but that game was a capitulation.

Morales is really frustrating, a real loose cannon, and a sending off waiting to happen every game

I reckon he's the most undisciplined player I have ever seen. He's been absolutely outstanding this season, and seems to be keeping Rangers in the title race almost single handed, but, as you said, he's a red card waiting to happen. Gerrard, and McAlister, must be going crazy at his antics.

Just seen the pictures of him in the pub. Just looks like a fan with his mates. No conflict of interest eh?

Apparently The Crown is known as a real bluenose pub, a bit like The Brazen Head is for Celtic fans.

As I said, at the very least, it isn't the height of professionalism to go into a pub full of Rangers fans celebrating a win against Celtic, after you've refereed the game.
