He’s from Port Glasgow, next town east of Greenock and a hotbed of Celtic fans. His family are indeed Catholic and were disappointed when he signed for Rangers. Port Glasgow is one of the few towns in Scotland to still have an A.O.H. Club, basically the equivalent of the Masonic club, but for Catholics.

Which is ironic as loads of Rangers players live over the hill in Kilmacolm and Houston.

Bizarre heading out to the coast in that direction. There's a fencepost beside the road where you can literally pinpoint the transition from "Leafy" to "Urban decay"

Both Rangers and Celtic had great sides in that period. It was a golden era for scottish football.Unfortunately your comments about Billy Bingham leave you down a bit. What a disgraceful way, to speak about a man who served Everton well as player and manager.

It's possible to be both good at football and a terrible human being.

As John Terry of your other team Chelsea will testify.

Aye. Kilmacolm is one of the finer places to live in Renfrewshire, the Port is a midden. Unfortunately, I have my uncle's funeral to attend in the Port next Saturday before heading to Perth for the 'Ton game.

My condolences

My Grandad worked as a shift manager in a munitions factory in Bishopton during the war (where the new houses are, the ground was so addled with heavy metals they couldn't safely build on it for a few decades), he went back to Preston afterwards to help build Springfields. However, he dragged his family to Port Glasgow on holiday every year after.

When I moved up there, I was renting a place in Quarriers for a while and my dad was desperate to go back to Port Glasgow... I had to keep finding excuses to not destroy his childhood.

Familiar with all of them.

just seen Fraser Aird got let go by Cove Rangers for giving a w@nker gesture during the old firm when he was in the crowd,

seems harsh, same as Mcburnie being in hot water

I think he was simply released a day before his contract ran out. It seems a bit [Poor language removed] of Cove Rangers to do that. If he was a talented youngster, they thought they might get a big transfer fee from, I highly doubt they would release him. Football fans are far too precious nowadays.

Having said that, bearing in mind supporters of The Rangers phoned the police on Neil Lennon because he cupped his hands behind his ears, and contacted the police on Artur Boruc for the heinous crime of blessing himself, saying both men and I quote "Could have started a riot" then, using their own criteria, we can only speculate on the Armageddon a [Poor language removed] gesture to opposition fans might bring.

i had a look at their team saw former wigan legend Fraser Fyvie is there, theyve got a bit of dough to flash about (relatively) haven't they?

Its a shame things like the above mentioned ever happened, the rangers fans would have been more than happy to give stick. ive got no problem with it either way.

I agree. I couldn't care less what he did, within reason anyway. He's a supporter of The Rangers, and he went to a game to support them, and did what a lot of supporters do.

Like I said though, when your support go as far as to contact the police on a man because he cupped his hands behind his ears, and another because he blessed himself, you're painting yourself into a corner when it comes to defending the behaviour of your own teams player, or ex-players.
