Great result and performance for GVB's first game in charge. Tweaked a few things, gave Kent and Aribo more freedom to run at their defence, gave us back a quicker press, moving the ball quicker, our defence getting ball up the field if in danger rather than always trying to pass ourselves out when it got tight and Alfie told to be a striker and hassle them in the box rather than always dropping deep and lo and behold he bags two(should've been 3) and we're through!!
Rangers left to fly the flag for Scotland again as I see celtic capitulated as per usual!! ?

Don’t Celtic go into the conference league, which even if it is a crappy competition, won’t be something they win, and will long term help get the automatic CL spot?

View attachment 146413If you’ve got a spare 20 mins to watch , this is what Scottish non- league football is all about , the heart and soul of the game. This guy wanders about Blogging on various matches, and this was Saturday’s Buckie Thistle v Clachnacuddin Highland League clash. He’s really captured the town, the ground and the game, I’m even in a couple of shots.! It was one of those days when you got soaked by a squall of rain as you were just getting into the ground, and a fierce west wind bending the corner flags didn’t help. To use some of his words, “ proper football from a bygone era , you’ve got to get to see it … even if it freezes your lips off.” I’m not sure why he was so surprised about the Clach manager getting a Red card though , happens regularly , non of this pussyfooting complaint to the fourth official, directed straight at the ref, the Highland League has some of the loudest managers in World football ?. Jags 4-1 Clach.

He's a kopite.

He's a good supporter of Scottish football.
Arbroath seems to be his favourite after being made very welcome.

The conference is about as prestigious as The Southport and District Sunday league Under 11's knock-out cup. Something you should avoid at all costs if possible. Thursday night extra games with absolutely no kudos for even winning the third (or even tenth) rate trophy. Spurs have no motivation whatsoever for being in such s worthless competition and it shows. Even the prize for winning it is an absolutely underwhelming place in next season's Europa League, something Celtic will hope to hardly need.

Let's face it it's a racing certainty that the season will end with the old firm occupying the two Champions league Champions league places.

But you dont count them as Scots.

So Van Bronckhorst's game plan is a big hoof up the park?

They could have got some manager from the Highlands League to offer that.
Not really, all the managers of the best Highland League teams have them playing out from the back , I won’t deny “ a big hoof up the park “ doesn’t happen though when needed. One of those managers is Ross Jack who was with us back in the ’70s.

One thing that really pissés me off about Europe is the system of proven losers getting to enter a later stage of a lower tier European competition.

It seems so unfair that those who go through qualifying and/or grouo stage success in the Europa are suddenly hijacked by a bunch of losers who failed badly in the champions league.

It's just got even worse now, not only do we see the losers from the first tier champions league 'rewarded' with another go at wrecking the efforts of the second tier completion Europa League. Now it's the second tier failures who are 'rewarded' by making a mockery of the third tier Conference trophy - (or whatever the competition for failures is called).

I agree. If you don't finish in the top two in a competition you should gtf, and not be allowed to drop into another less prestigious tournament.
