Nothing personal but I can't take another season of him as first choice + captain. He's been targeted by other teams for 2-3 years, too nice to be captain + lost bit of respect for him after Gomes/Son.

When we have players like Delph, Kean and youngsters like Small who take for granted this great club; It amazes me how fans want someone who is the complete opposite and is loyal, hard working and loves the club to leave so bad.

He isn't at the level he was before, but as a second choice right back you wont get much better. Happy he has signed and I hope his love for the club and hardworking nature rub off on some of the others that clearly need it.

Not gonna lie: I think we need a change at the position. That said, I do get it. Rewarding the longtime servants is just part of the club's identity.

A real cynic might suggest that other money that freed up from another potential extension was spent here instead.

I can live with the contract extension providing he isn’t first choice , one game in three or four is far from enough for us to be competitive. Not a criticism of the lad it’s just time at Work .

Whoever we bring in as first choice RB, Seamus will be head and shoulders above the rest as back up.. JJK, Holgate and even Godfrey are all worse options there so ive no issue with him being there as cover.
Sell Holgate and Jonjoe asap

No questioning he does love the club but that doesn’t merit an extension on his contract. His footballing ability should be the only thing that matters but sadly he’s not upto it anymore and hasn’t been for a few years.

Hogwash.

He played very well in games last season, now granted we need something extra, due to his age, but the hasnt been upto it for years line is totally wrong, IMO.

I agree to a certain extent. But good / great teams are built on more factors than just footballing ability. You need to build a 'team' and without people like Coleman this club would be in a worst position than it currently is. If we had a team full of captains or leaders I would agree its time to move on, but currently that isn't the case.

We’ve needed a RB since Brands arrived that’s 3 years! He can have the odd good game granted, but his consistency has gone and he has more poor games than good.
