Started well the season...sadly he is in the irish squad for the upcoming internationals...how long before he's injured?

Look at Seamus defending and look at TAA and tell me who is the better defender, rarely does Seamus get skint but when he does it's the end of the world, his legs are gone, he can't cross it etc etc. His performance today apart from a poor clearance on one occasion was flawless, Yes we need competition for him, yes we need be get younger, but experts on here would gladly spunk 30m on Max Aarons who will never get to Coleman's level. Denzel Dumwho??

Seamus is a legend and would play every minute of every game if he could but sadly his body wont allow it. He needs a starting rb to come in like digne did for baines, maybe he knows we're skint he was back in sligo a few weeks back helping with training - maybe hes looking his own replacement lol

Highly doubt he can keep this up over a season...though hes showing that perhaps a Patterson to rotate in/out is an option rather than an immediate 1st choice.

My horrid prediction from early July came true :/

In a perfect world we’d sign like 10 new players but it ain’t happening. Hopefully a new RB this year. I’ve got a horrid feeling Benitez will stick with Coleman so he doesn’t look like ex-RS manager comes in and bins off long-serving club captain.

….definitely still a PL standard RB, I have no doubt about that. I do agree, though, that he’s physically fragile & he could do without international football at this stage of his career. Saying that, he’s a proud Irishman and from what is said, an integral part of their set-up.

Benitez wants him as first choice and I assume feels he has adequate back-up in Holgate and Godfrey until the player he wants as a long-term replacement becomes available.

He hasn't played 30 games a season since the 2014/15 season.
