In fairness the Leauge needs more players called Seamus in it!

He'd be called Shay over here...and kipper would be having a field day creating songs for him:

Shay sera sera

Walk this Shay

The best little Shay we know

That said some great players have come out of the LOI and had great careers, Paul McGrath springs to mind, Kevin Moran, Roy Keane and more recently Kevin Doyle.

What about Rory Ginty?! He scored 42 goals in one season for me in Championship Manager '97 while I was coaching Swansea. What an attacking mid-flielder he was. Real pace and a sniper's finish. Of course, I have no idea whether he was a real or game generated player but Rory lead me to division promotion and made me a lot of cash.

Reports over here suggest that he is traveling to Liverpool in the next few days after Moyes came over to meet him here last week.

I hear he played in a scratch game behind closed doors for Celtic before Christmas. With two other Irish U21 internationals (McCourt and McGinn) going there, he might yet end up in Glasgow.

Think he played in one for Birmingham aswell

Rovers chairman Michael Toolan:

Meanwhile, Toolan said nothing was “set in stone” regarding the future of Seamus Coleman, following reports linking the Republic of Ireland U-21 international with a cross-channel move to Everton.

Toolan also said that transfer figures in the media - one report put€180,000 on a Coleman/Everton deal - tended to be “grossly exaggerated”.

He said Sligo Rovers were in negotiations with three English Premier League clubs and two Scottish Football League clubs and were holding out for a figure they had in mind. He said Coleman’s happiness with the deal was also a factor.
