2022/23 Seamus Coleman

I absolutely love Seamus but he is so far off the required standard now. Shouldn't be playing PL football anymore unfortunately.
I would presume they were hoping they wouldn't have to play him in many games.

wondering if holgate might be a better option there at this stage until patterson is fit.

The only thing worse than watching this guy pretend to still be a professional footballer (and take £40k a week for the privilege) is coming on here afterwards and seeing people deflect any and all criticism of him for no other reason than "well he was good between 2012 and 2015 and only cost 60 grand".

I've said previously that I'm not even angry at Coleman. It's not his fault. If the club had done their job properly this guy would have been shipped out 3 years ago. But his "legend" status is now eroded with every single appearance.

He massively affects our play in a negative way. Awful on the ball, first instinct is to pass backwards, gets out paced, has loads of lapses where he hits a pass out of play for no reason or a miscontrol.

Top pro, but far far far below the level required now.

Never ever looks like he’s going to bring the ball under control. He gets targeted for a reason, he is a League 1 standard of footballer playing in the Premier League. It’s embarrassing to watch him.

Can't defend veteran players like they're up coming youth players tbf. Been a great servant but he needs to retire with dignity like G Neville did.

Also, like Jagielka one of the worst captains we've ever had, give me Coady or Tarkowski as leaders any day.
