2024/25 Seamus Coleman

The guy has no business turning out for either Everton or Ireland so it's on both of them really.

He wouldn't get a game in any other team in the top 2 or 3 divisions and should have been binned literally years ago.

Can't wait till his gone, sick of the sight and sound of him. Was looking at a a video of our beautiful new stadium 🏟 this morning - I hope I never get to see him on that sacred grass.
I have a feeling he may be around the place in a coaching role when he hangs his boots up. So many ex players have got coaching roles at Everton, after they ended their playing days. Not saying that he would not make a good coach in the future. So many players that have had good careers at top clubs and don`t start getting their coaching badges until they hang up their boots. Coleman has started working on getting his, so I have a feeling he`ll be given a role at one of the under age teams when he stops playing.
I`d prefer for players to make a clean break and start off at another club and show they have the skills to coach at the highest level. If they do I`m sure we would welcome them and give them the shot at coaching at PL level.

I do agree that when he finishes playing that he will be brought onto the coaching staff.

He clearly is very influential in the club in a very positive way.

I do believe he has the personality, leadership skills and temperament for management.

Although universally popular he seems totally ruthless and focused.
I think he is a man who would not be afraid of hard decisions.

I don't think he has, I bump into him occasionally. He doesn't divulge much detail but I got the impression he was offered one year on a reduced wage for this year, and he felt that it wasn't a good look for the club captain to be taking a pay cut but he wanted to stay as he felt there was no obvious first choice RB.

"He felt it wasnt a good look for the club captain to be taking a pay cut"

Are you kidding? What an absolute tosser.

I know for a fact he has the same deal agreed for next season. It’s up to him if he stays on. Next time you see him, ask him about Paddy B.

Or ask him to retire...

Sounds like a world class superstar writing his own contracts...so many say hes a good influence but does he come across like someone who can be a top coach? I have no idea.

Coaching of course is massively different to playing. Hopefully he finds that coaching is his calling and he starts paying back the wasted wages while hes been injured after playing for ireland.

Im not convinced.

Another thing that is strange having a player that hardly ever plays as club captain. Would it make sense to have someone that is likely to play week in week out to be our captain?

"Not afraid of hard decisions" except the hardest - when to retire. Maybe have a word with Gary Neville

I wish I saw it that way.

Great for us in his early years, but one of the worst captains we've ever had imo.

Terrible dressing room and culture for as long as I can remember.

Pathetic, spineless displays followed by repetitive, meaningless soundbites.

Good player, nice fella, not his fault our sentimentality means we keep players until they become total liabilities.

I do think he will retire, but at present it appears he doesn’t want to let go.

Kenwright positioned it as ‘one of our own’ which fans assumed was sentimentality but it was basically, incompetence and being skint which drove those types of decisions. If Coleman had reached this stage of his career e,g, his age, physical condition etc in Moshiri’s early years at the club there is no way as a club we would have done the same. We’d have bought four right backs!!!
