Seamus Coleman

I won't disagree with you about the small sample size. Still, he's not done a whole lot thus far (anything of note beyond the Barkley assist?), which represents a puzzling trend for me.

Think he has had a decent start to the season to be honest, we have had Southampton away, OK we won that game but they still have decent attackers to challenge defenders and they did for periods of the game, Man City at home and I think there are a few defenders going to show up with poor stats from that game & Spurs away which is always a difficult place to go.

It is not only a small sample but completely warped to the point where they cannot be compared to whole season (2 seasons).

I'm not writing him off and I'm not saying this is who he will be for the entire season. I've been underwhelmed by his start, and the statistics back that up.

Just as a small sample size does not constitute proof of a trend, merely pointing out that a sample size is small doesn't disprove a trend is forming. Hopefully the entire team settles down after the break and Coleman goes back to dominating the right side of the pitch.

Does anyone put any credence in these paper reports of both PSG and Bayern Munich wafting £20 million in our direction ?

Hope he's not out for long. Back four of Browning, Stones, Galloway and Jags is a bit lacking in experience. Could play Mori of course.

Such a shame. It went when he had a shot, hopefully it's more of a tweak from overstretching than a proper pull from sprinting.

Getting back to his best, still a way to go, but the signs are very promising that the Seamus we love is on his way back.

Coleman was a force again on the right and remains one of the best players in his position in the premiership. He was always asking questions of their defence when going forward and was strong in defence too, battling hard to stay on his feet in the challenge. Hope he is not injured and back in the team for next weeks game at Swansea.

I am much more hopeful on Seamus' injury than Besic. He might have just stretched a little too far. After the match he was talking to Martinez and seemed in good spirits.

As far as his production is concerned I think you will see this increase if we get an actual winger (Kone does well in his role but he links more with Lukaku than Coleman) and more importantly when Baines comes back. Right now opposing defenses are shading to our right side since we are lacking a proper winger and full back on the left. When we have Baines dictating play we can do the switch of fields and that's when you see Coleman with acres of space o attack or 1v1.
