They do, but him not kicking up a fuss isn’t the same as having a huge amount of respect for Dyche and staying to repay the faith in him.

You think he turns United down if they had met our valuation?

Using Occam's razor, I'm inclined to believe he was happy to continue his development under this manager at this club.

There wasn't a murmur of dissent from his camp, not a peep.

Personally, I think going to United would have been a terrible move for him, though I'm sure many would say that turning down, let's say a 200% wage increase, and a five year deal worth £50 million + would be a terrible move, but at the end of the day, he never pushed for it. Players rarely do that. They do it even less if they're playing for a manager they don't like. Occam's razor...

He would’ve gone to United if they met our valuation.

He might have done. We will never know. He never pushed for it though did he.?

Anyway, that was very insightful. ;)

The overall point was some put forward that DCL wants to leave because he doesn't like the manager manager - unsubstantiated.

By the same counter logic, his wish is to leave because he hates the manager and absolutely nothing to do with asking for 160 a week and 10 mill signing on fee on a free - why would that even come into his thinking when he really doesn't like a a manager.

Yeah, it seems like some people just want to have a pop at the manager for anything. As far as Branthwaite is concerned, he's playing for the manager who has made him a fixture of his teams, and gotten form out of him. It's not outlandish to assume that he's happy here, given that there were blatant attempt to turn his head and/or unsettle him.

Anyway, back on topic: People are entitled to their opinion of Dyche, but giving him zero credit for absolutely anything he's doing here is uncalled for. One thing I will say though, is that I can defend him from what I perceive to be unfair criticism, but I can't defend poor results forever, because that's what he will ultimately be judged on. As it stands, our points per game would have us going in to the last three games of the season on 25 points. That's simply not good enough, and needs to improve if he wants to keep my backing, but hopefully come Christmas we will be in a better place. I have faith in him to get results.

100% the narrative all along was he was content to stay, if a player really wants to move there is loads they can do leverage it, we've all seen it. Its one of the frustrating things about this thread - there is loads to critique the manager on, id like to be against him for a week or so just to improve the debate in here - there really is no point making things up.

Ball retention in clutch moments for example - decent debate to be had there and you could pick it apart - id be quite critical of the players and manager on that score, i also think he reacts based on a bit of inferiority "big club" complex - but instead we are making up alternative leagues and guessing which players are on his Christmas card list.

I think the rest is fair mate, its a results industry and the next 8 are mission critical, we have under performed results wise up to this point - loads of context to that - but also a bit of self awareness - as if he had the time back again, im sure on reflection he could and should have maybe done things a bit differently, also think there is valid criticism of prep heading into the season. I'm fairly confident we are more then fine. I want us to cut a few a drift over the next 8 - that's the job of work for me heading in to the Xmas schedule, we need that buffer for that period.

DCL’s ad campaign looks wasted if you prefer Occam’s razor to Braun’s

I agree, it would have been a terrible move.

Being happy to stay and develop and also being happy to leave aren’t mutually exclusive ideas though. He didn’t push for it, but that doesn’t mean he also wouldn’t happily have gone.

That’s missing the point though, the point is people pedalling he stayed because of how much respect he has for Dyche etc. that’s made up nonsense.

He’d agreed terms with Utd apparently, maybe Everton said from
The outset, if Utd meet our valuation, you can go. When they don’t get even close, what is he or his agent going to do?
The proof will be if Branthwaite signs a new deal under this manager, which is highly unlikely

The argument put forward by the bobble is DCL wound probably join Fulham than stay here, they play decent football and he’d be In a nice area of London. It looks like he hasn’t got a lot of options, as free next summer he will have a few more, but staying at Everton under dyche is a complete non starter

Quick question.(s).. Do you think the players have ever threw Dyche under the bus or downed tools?

If the answer to that is no, can we then infer that they're relatively happy with his management?

Does the opinion of the players carry more weight than that of people on the internet?
They may have wanted to nobody knows, but I don't believe it for a minute.
Also, they're not totally daft enough to cut their noses off to spite their face - given that for most of Dyches term they never had any real leeway, to for want of a word...allegedly...throw the game just to prove a point to Dyche.

I haven't heard what Bobble has said - has he said "he doesn't want to play for Sean Dyche" or has he said he fancies a move to London while earning a packet rather then dogging it out at Everton like he has done so far in his career.
