2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

It is undoubtedly both, but I do think a better manager could get more out of this squad. Even with Dyche's anti-football they managed what would normally be a lower mid-table finish last season. If we brought in a manager that actually coached tactics and tried to control matches instead of set us up to try and steal a point, I think we could be better.
At this point in the Dyche tenure, yes.

He was the right man at the right time up to the summer. But no longer.

The thing is he's never going to manage a club anywhere near as big or historic as Everton.

It's his best/only chance to establish himself as a decent, credible PL manager with aspirations to compete at a higher level.

He's had to deal with a really difficult situation (ownership, deductions etc), but this was the season to really impose something more positive on the squad (like the cat at Forest).

But he's written off a decent set of fixtures to start the season (not having the players ready again) and just can't shake off this inferiority complex about every team we play.

It's his only chance to work at a higher level than Burnley, Watford and he's absolutely blowing it with this negative, submissive, percentage football that the fans and players hate

He's that bad, that many would have said that's a good point if that Beto goal had counted that's how awful he is.

2 wins in 10 matches. He's keeping us in a battle unless he somehow scabs wins very soon. December looks brutal so we needed as many points before then as possible so we could have had a relatively comfortable season but instead I still find myself hoping certain teams lose and checking other results.

How many wins is it since that Burnley Away win in December 2023? 7 is it?

It drives me mad though. We've thrown 6 points away against villa and bournmouth. Throw that in today and its 9 points.I think if we had a better manager we wouldve taken points from those 3 fixtures. Dyche will still be saying that we are only 2 points off eleventh despite that and despite the 2 wins in 10 games. And he is right. I think midtable is the target this year im afraid. It will be another small improvement and the club will see it as that as well. Dyche will take us so far but he needs replacing at the right time. He needs to start winning games quickly or the right time to replace him will arrive very soon.

Yes but he won't accept a short term contract.
Still not thinking Moyes is the answer, even sort term but you’re absolutely right. No way he would accept a short term contract and I’m sure that would be all he would get if even offered. Still have a feeling TFG would move for a big name such as Mourinho …

Branthwaite, O’Brien, Patterson, Coleman, Dixon were available today but not selected in starting 11. Beto, for his obvious limitations, has at least put the ball in the net off the bench in two successive appearances too.

The cretin has his favourites and will continue to select them come whatever. We needed 3 points today and from the next game before December. We are on the edge of severe trouble here.
No hindsight even required.

Limited managers are limited managers. I remember when we were safe with a few games to go under Allardyce and that gave him a chance to show he could play a more expansive style. He played the same dire football because that's all he could do.

Looks to me like half the players know they won’t be here next year, the other half know the manager won’t.

Fair few were phoning it in at times, front four were pretty ineffectual - first half in particular.

This team have a tendency to switch off 60/70 mins through a game and just back off and not defend, happened last week at Fulham, happened Vs Bournemouth and happened again today. Better team for huge swaths of the game, switch off and get punished - not good enough by manager and the players - collectively criticising both.

Also Branthwaite should start today, not that Keane has done much wrong, but he’s a generational talent, he steps up, he sniffs danger, he marshal's and he enables JT and Myko - sorry and all Michael. It’s business.

We should have been out of sight in that game, they are awful. A collection of the above, the ref and I don’t know a curse did us today.

Neither the players or manager leave with much credit.

One thing I won’t stand is something like DCL today, if he wants off, he can get right off, deserved his hooking and then some, play Beto at least he cares.

I dont actually mind him, or the concept of him. He does exactly what it says on the tin. Fair enough. I just don’t like the tin.

Time to go right now for me. Dyche will have an obscenely consistent message every day at FF, whether we like it or not, and it is capable of grinding out points. The last few performances show clear as day that message has gone stale with the players. Happens to all managers eventually unless the players are kept happy by challenging for titles.

No turning it round for a manager of Dyche’s style. He won’t change his message. He probably hasn’t the ability, but even if he did he’d lose even more of the players respect for abandoning everything he drills into them.

We moan about pre-season, but these players are fit. You can always tell the message has lost the buy-in from the players because they look leggy and unfit. A new gaffer and message and they’d all be flying round winning challenges and high fiving and throwing out pre-rehearsed goal celebrations. They look part confused and part bored stiff.
He's useless end off
