2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

That's actually what he said.

Except this is. Eggs response to another person misquoting him:

‘ha, ha, you need to read that thread. I said his achievement in keeping us up was remarkable, arguably the 3rd best managerial achievement in my time watching.

That’s not the same as saying he’s our 3rd best ever Manager but I like him lots. We know what he can achieve with the poor squad of footballers he inherited but what we don’t know is whether he can improve us given better quality. I actually think he can but that’s the unknown.

I suspect there’s more posters against Dyche than for him’

Now unless eggs is over 150 years old he’s not taking about all managers in our history, and his view that one of Dyche’s achievements with us ranks highly to other manager’s (whether you agree with him or not, personally I don’t) is not the same as a judgement on the manager’s entire body of work.

So at no point did he say he was the 3rd greatest Everton manager in history

There's an earlier quote where he did state exactly what I said. Mate, he's not gonna take you out for dinner, he's married. You've come out swinging after getting a point against a promoted side, against a poster that doesn't want Dyche sacked yet. Relax.

@Saint Domingo Sorry, I got a tiny bit wrong, in his lifetime, not Everton's. He's pretty old like. Love you Eggs <3

He did the exact same with Benitez mate.

Totally and utterly lost the plot over him, just dug in like one of those Japanese soldiers who got stuck in the jungle and carried on fighting even though the war was over.

I'll forgive him if he apologises to me. I don't mind people having faith, even blind faith, in anything, I just ask that we deal with the fachts. I understand Egg's reasoning for his ranking, I strongly disagree with it though. Sean did a great job for us last season, the signs aren't great at the moment, but I'll give him a bit more time yet.

well yeah apart from misquoting him and ignoring all his later clarifications of the context of his post, you’re bang on the money.

So that’s 1 person who thought that (even though it turned out they didn’t mean it that way)

You make the season and a half before sound like Brazil at Espana ‘82.

People expected that things would get a little better this term now that Dyche had established a bridgehead at the club.

Why do you think that is?

Our best player has been injured all season and our 2nd most valuable player was sold before a ball was kicked.

Again, the Football is difficult to watch, the substitutions have been poor at times and the results haven't been good enough. He absolutely deserves criticism.

But, without doubt, he hasn't been given the tools to make the team better. He's been doing the job (well, mostly) with one arm tied behind his back.
