2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

If we play as badly as we did in the first half of last week’s game then Newcastle will be out of sight and our second half performance will be of no consequence. We need to be on the front foot from the off. I have absolutely no idea if this team and the manager are capable of doing that, before the Palace game I was convinced they couldn’t, now I don’t know. I am of the opinion that if we slip backwards then Sean Dyche shouldn’t be picking the team or the tactics for the next game.
Let us see what tomorrow brings.

Id flip that around to be honest - had a good chuckle to myself imagining loads of posters on here googling it, failing to understand it, got bored and then falling back on the old wwwdddllllwwww - statistical model .

"13 games lad"!

win, draw and lose actually mean something though? It's not a statistical model is it

What was Uruguay's XCG in 1930 or do you think they didn't care?

Everything is subjective until you add a value to it, meaning something at its base core is even just psychological premise - at its very core.

3 points dont really exist.

Most things mean nothing really - until a collective convince themselves to assign a value to it.

Assits weren't a stat - 25 years ago - when this forum started no one spoke about them - now everyone bangs on about them.

Im actually not biggest fan of X - stats - they are indicative as opposed to objective, but useful none the less and are used in all elite sports these days.

so what value is here then to XCG? the value of conceding goals and conceding goals are points. do you get something for expected things now too?

if you were sat there chuckling at people who think w l d matter, they must be valued pretty highly.

so are you saying 25 years ago no one said 'good cross' or 'what a ball'? some player just headed a ball in the goal and the crowd said 'how the hell did the ball get near his head?'

no one has, or will every say, 'it was a good 2-1 win but our XCG was 3.6 so we were lucky there' when walking for their post match pint, will they

As i said, Im actually not biggest fan of X - stats - they are indicative as opposed to objective, but useful none the less and are used in all elite sports these days. More PL managers are taking about their X - Stats in the media now.

But like most things they identify KPI's and help to predict outcome, trend, momentum and judging performance - or what you need to target to improve on.

How do you know your defence has actually improved from GW 1 to GW 7 & - or did you just luck out - what's the underlying data etc and how do we more of what went well and less of what went bad in GW 1 etc.

Around this time last year, i said it was impossible for us not to score goals as our XG was so high that statistically it had to readjust - we were butchering chances - the next game we went to Brentford and scored a good few - thats how i knew.

Its not just football its used in, its used in most elite sports.

Football is just kicking a ball around, it is not difficult but people want to pretend it is more to sound intelligent.

You make it sound like a board meeting.

How very Foucault.

'Good togger' is a social construction and Dyche is a victim of oppressive narratives. So he must CHANGE THE NARRATIVE!

Or maybe it just all just It means Foucault n all.

Horse racing is a load of animals running around with a small dude on top, but walk into a bookies shop and tell lads working out form and odds your reflections and see how you get on.

Actually now that you mention it, Bookies use X-Stats, in their algorithms to work out various odds.

Why I was saying during the week, there had been an up turn in Everton XCG and are playing teams in the bottom 10 of XG in the league - statistically you’ve a good chance of winning on a clean sheet bet over the next 8, if you fancied a bet, it’s not guaranteed but all the KPIs point to an increased likelihood.

You’re essentially proving my point from earlier, lads google it, get bored and want to go back to their meat and two veg with a bit of Bovril. Hence the chuckle!

And horse racing is the most boring sport going so thanks for proving my point

Yea my diet consists of that but I don't want to over complicate something that's meant to be entertaining

I'd happily watch bowls over horse racing

In all honesty it’s a class sport mate, like you I never saw the point, but got to know a few people who happen to be breeders, trainers and owners, then spent a bit of time at Studs, learning about linage, bloodstock and thoroughbreds etc and where the real money is to be made, it’s not at the racing or betting!

Really is the sport of kings, great fun, would encourage anyone to learn more about it.
