Despite my deep reservations, there are some positives to be had. He has wanted this job for quite a few years from what i recall so hopefully he will really go for it and try and make a name for himself. He is also far more experienced in every area of management and experience than Lampard which will definitely help and he is very passionate too.

Become a hero please Mr Dyche. I literally want all my reservations and disappointment thrown right back at me with a suck on that Lob. ;)

The one thing I do like about Dyche is that he comes across as a bit of a taskmaster and won't take crap off players. Last thing the squad needs at this point is a soft touch - it's either put up or shut up.

Christ knows how he'll have this lot actually performing on the pitch, but either way a few home truths wouldn't go amiss.

He might keep us up sure…then what?

I was genuinely looking forward to some sort of football evolution rather than grinding out a 17th placed finish to do it all again next year. We need total, total rebuild. We’re in a cycle of stop gaps and the only thing that breaks it is relegation or us pulling 10 wins out the hat.

just out of pure curiosity, how does appointing a man who is renowned for not scoring goals help a team who does not score goals

He got them scoring when they had players like Ings, Rodriguez, Barnes, Wood. When thats not there and you're the lowest spenders in the league... you'll struggle for goals. Limitations at his disposal but yet kept them in the league for years.

Counter point is Bielsa. Leeds scored loads. Wouldn't work here.

I don’t get this Dave, and it’s nothing against Dyche because he could keep us up or he couldn’t.

But where does this narrative come from that he’s almost like this relegation expert
I dont see it that way. He's the one likely to get in here and not disturb the culture in a revolutionary way - as Bielsa would have, making it too much of a culture shock - and he knows how to manage poor teams and squeeze points out of the opposition.

This was all about Dyche v Bielsa.

Dyche v Frank or Dyche v Kompany and I wouldn't have gone for Dyche.

I would have gone for Gallardo.
But there is a wide choice of managers who would have been better than the Kettering Klown, for me.
Typical Everton going for the lowest hanging fruit!!
Would have loved him yeah as 3-4 other managers. But this club is a circus right now it limits us to who would actually come. You say it thats typical Everton? Well why’s that ,well it’s the board and the owner. We need a complete restructure at the top down to the manager level. Until that happens we will continue down the same road. Dyche for me is the best out of the bad bunch and at this time, I would have bielsa if this was pre World Cup. Just hoping but won’t have happen that this club gets sorted and we can move forward.

I think this is a mistake based on a misguided ‘safe pair of hands’ notion that no longer works in this league.

Our number 1 problem is we can’t convert chances, now we’re going to try and nick games?

An all action approach would have suited Goodison where we will need to get most of our points.

Backs to the wall will produce the same groans especially if we go behind in games because we’ll have no way back.
