1/ "It's easy to take the wheel of a ship in calm waters, but not so much when it's choppy waters...I've got to earn my spurs, because I know I'm a bit of a marmite manager anyway...but I'm willing to put the hard yards in."
Loves a mixed metaphor.

2/ Nowhere in that was the question put to him whether he can keep us up, and he didn't volunteer commenting on it either.

3/ Undercurrent there on Calvert-Lewin. I dont think he's that impressed...which would obviously represent a huge problem. Has he had a falling out with him already I wonder.
I didn't get that at all, just didn't blow smoke up him... Said 'there are other important players here, not just him.' which takes pressure off and tips the hat to other potential heroes. Also said he needs to get 'truly fit' which is something Dyche has said about every player under him at some point.
He said 'he's a very good player, no doubt about that.'
Think you're hearing what you want to hear bud

Twice he chose to answer questions about Calvert-Lewin by downgrading his importance.

Or…by taking the pressure off.

Pretty much this.

I have faith in th manager to get a better shape to the team and stop being such an east touch, but the lack of attacking options is going to prevent him doing his job...which I say is getting us safe rather than being here for a promotion tilt next season.
Just playing Maupay in the role he's designed for will help. Dyche obviously knows it's not a him or Lewin question for the strikers role as Lampard seemed to think.

Also agree with your reading of his comments on Lewin, I have a feeling his "If I'm fit I play" days are over.

Great to see we have 2 of the toughest games possible coming up, I think he'll relish it.

No, that's just you're bizarre imagination.

Why would you jump to such a conclusion already, based on zero evidence?

Mad comment.

I thought he wasn't that bothered about eleborating Calvert-Lewin.

That may be because he doesnlt want to state he's crucial given the fact he'll be out for huge periods of the 18 game run-in.

But his response about him was very clipped on each occasion he was asked.

Yeah, it'll be a culture shock to Calvert-Lewin.

It's just a pity Dyche has no real option but to play him.

Yea he wasn't whatever that is lol
No more clipped than everything else imo
Many managers don't like singling out players as above others and I think he's being careful not to do that.
Dom will be key, but so will the others in the team is what I took from everything he said about him

This squad can preform much better, they just need right commodore. Get some shape nick a win, make balls of steel, can't see better man to do that in this moment than Dyche. I am gratefull that we won't see 300 pases from midfield to the defence and back like groundhog day.
