The more I think about it, the more I wonder how Lampard didn't manage to get a result at West Ham. Everyone went there, played defensively, countered them and won. For some reason we tried to play ball against them and they did that to us. Ridiculously short sighted from Lampard.
Like many others,I like Lampard but as previously indicaated, his refusal to change tactics to align with the abilities of the team, led to his inevitable demise.

Obviously, we haven't kicked a ball yet under him. But from the noises he's been making he'll work tactics and formations around player ability. Lampard had vision, and with better players he might have done better here. But at the end of the day, when you have a squad that makes Iwobi look good you're going to be in trouble playing it out from the back.

I read it in Dom King's article about Dyche. He gave out questions for players to answer anonymously but 2 players didn't respond.

His first official day was Monday and, after introducing himself to the squad, Dyche handed out a piece of paper to them all with three simple questions. All answers were kept anonymous and he received replies from all bar two players.

it's just a work survey, quite a good turn out if only two didn't hand it back in

I wonder if not making the decision to replace Lampard 5 games earlier will be the undoing of this season.

Those Bournemouth results were abysmal, and could have been the end. Wolves should have been.

Granted we got the unexpected point vs city but bring in a new coach then, have that “free hit” game under Tait or Baines with Dyche in the stands about to sign. Probably get beat 2 or 3, and be a point worse off,

But…

Does a Dyche team then get battered by Brighton at home?

Ignore United in the cup, not a priority and it only made us feel in any way good because of just how bad we felt.

I don’t think a Dyche Everton team loses at home to Southampton or away to this current West Ham.

Maybe we’re 5 points better off, net. Maybe 7. Maybe only 1 or 2, but we’re not where we are, and our relegation rivals haven’t been buoyed by beating us either.

Lampard was never up to the job. Credit he was around when we had good times at the very end of last season but as a coach, a tactician and a motivator of men, he’s just not it.

Deciding that 5 games earlier could’ve been a hell of a difference.

Dyche asked the players what has gone wrong! Easy to answer. Because they are crap at playing football! A bunch of no hopers disguising as football players.

Great comparison, a real pragmatist with more youth than Moyes now and also more experience than when Moyes took over. I think he will get clean sheets and work from there. If he can get 10 clean sheets til the season end. Even our shot shy attack could get 7, 1-0 wins.
I think that above all else Sean Dyche will embarrass those who are in charge of the club, but ruining it, with his honesty because they don’t know what honesty is and certainly never used it when dealing with us fans.

We’re on the march with Dychey’s army and staying in the premier league.

It could definitely be fatal for us to not have made that decision sooner. And this was said at the time by many people on here.

I dunno about that, I think other than the top clubs most players in the premier league are of a somewhat similar standard. Most of them are comfortably top flight players.

The issue we have had for a long time is that we have too many gaps in the squad with no adequate replacements and that we have not built on players strengths or hid players weaknesses. I am hoping that is what Dyche is good at.

We have just gone half a season playing DCL and Maupay in the same role without any changes in how we set up. Even just a cursory glance at each player physically should be enough to tell a manager that wont work.
