I really don't want to get even a little bit carried away, but what an opportunity the guy has tonight to catapult himself into modern Everton folklore.

A win there would be the stuff of legend, given our cursed run for decades.

But of course it is exactly that cursed run that is dragging my hope of it actually happening down.

Your spot on with that. It's a great opportunity to become a real fans favourite... nobody can expect points there though on derby day. Even if their form has been bad, we all know that changes for this game. I just want to see us out fight, battle and work them. Every tackle and every loose ball. If we do than then the result will look after itself.

I like that he’s got his mates as coaches with him here - they seem to genuinely respect each other and it helps that Woan is a Bluenose imo. Wish them and us all the luck in the world.

As others have said, in the past it’s been my closet mates who’ve pulled me to one side and had a word with me whenever I’ve been a berk or was doing something stupid/daft/idiotic. Most times I’ve listened…..

It's not a curse if we lifted it there less than 2 years ago.

Spot on .

The negativity or apathy that greeted the talk of his appointment was probably made even worse by the time it took to confirm and then we were given a further kicking on deadline day .

Things were certainly shaken up not just by the result against Arsenal but by the performance, any kind of result tonight would be huge . I can’t imagine how we’d react to a win but I’m confident it’d be a fair old sing followed by a drink or two afterwards .

I honestly thing the wind behind him would be Massive and you’re right about the stuff of legends . That said we’re not really allowed nice things so I’m Steeling myself for the inevitable.

this is bascially how dyche had burnley operating. there is stats stuff that most wont be bothered with but theres other stuff like reliance on experienced over younger players, low use of subtistitutes, low numbers of sendings off etc, so some may find it an interesting read

Honey, you've had all the luck.

Not a curse but it took arguably the best manager in the world to make it happen. Not saying Dyche isn’t the best manager in the world but if we were ever to win there, it didn’t hurt having the Don and a ticking James with us.

Got Onana now though, so all’s good.
Walter Smith won there. How hard can it be?
