2022/23 Sean Dyche

…23 shots suggests to me that we didn’t play for a draw. Saying that, the manager still has to try and ensure the team doesn’t get beat. We obviously lack quality in the top third, perhaps Gray might have forged an opportunity but look what Maura did after coming on for Spurs at the weekend.
that's a fair point though Leicester were getting turned a lot and Gray has proven his ability on the counter plenty of times and has pace
It's when he has time to think or trying to break a team down he's weak
was worth a shot imo
I understand not getting beat and if we got 4 draws in remaining games we stay up, but we won't so need to be brave in moments

All of them know when a squad is tiring enough to make subs to push on for a win

If it was me in charge, I’d absolutely have faith in putting someone in charge who could not only pull us away but push us up the table
Oh well it's so simple you should think about a move in to Premier league management, laughable really wonder why everyone's not doing it.

He is doing my head in absolutely afraid to try and win a game of football.

We had the most shots in a match for three years I believe.

Not sure how anybody can say he didn’t try to win the game. They scored the second precisely because we were holding a high line and going for it.

I would have liked to see Gray come on, but realistically he’s scored a handful of goals all season. Hardly a proven game changer.

I think it is the Keane situation and lack of game management that's irking everyone. We are conceding 2 goals a game at least, he thoroughly deserves all the criticism.
He does on the Keane stuff, he is woeful I agree. But him not changing it last night could have been the difference between a draw and a loss and that point might prove pivotal in the run in. So again we don't know if not changing something last night was a good thing or not, could have saved us from defeat by not upsetting the balance last night.

It's horses for courses, If he'd made a change due to tiring, some fresh legs may have made a difference. I mean on a whole every game, he just doesn't use subs if he doesn't have too no matter how tired the lads get.

Another point against Brighton isn't the worst result. I'd love a win but realistically I think a point would be good.

Would still give us hope going into the final three and could even take us out of the relegation zone.
The problem with picking up at most 1 point per game, is you leave yourself vulnerable to results you can’t control….it’s highly unlikely that Forest, Leicester and Leeds win in one weekend, but you only need two out of three to get one win at any point, and we are then four points adrift of safety if we do not draw, and three if we draw….we need that w on the board asap. despite last nights performance I would not back this team to be able to claw back more a deficit in the remaining pressure games.

I don’t expect Leeds to get anything out of their next game, but I do expect Forest to get something from Southampton at home (I actually expect them to win) and I am not sure on Leicester away at Fulham. I therefore expect Forest to be 4 points clear of us. If we get a point at Brighton, (which is debatable) it puts us on same points as Leeds, possibly Leicester if they lose at Fulham (better goal difference) and if Forest win, we still stay in bottom 3. Now none of those results may happen of course, but it just shows the importance of trying to get the 3 points and not hope for the other teams to get the result their form deserves…..every team gets the odd unexpected result.

He’s clearly improved them as a team, instilled a bit more belief, and we don’t collapse after conceding as much as we did under Lampard.

Despite that, he’s not managed to pick up enough points from games we needed to win; Forest, Fulham, Palace, and Leicester standing out. We’re running out of road, and he needs to get at least a win and a draw for us to have any chance. It increasingly feels like we don’t have a win left in us.

I still think we've seen the same amount of collapses as usual

Arsenal away could and should have been a cricket score
rs away we just completely gave up once Salag scored in the 36th minute
Man Utd away could and should have been a cricket score
Fulham at home
Newcastle at home
Even Leicester for 15 minutes in that first half they looked like they were going to score every time they went forward. If that pen had gone in it would have been curtains

That's 5/6 performances out of 14 where there have been really REALLY poor performances and players just throwing in the towel far too easily.

There is no guarantee it'll pay off granted, but the reward is an extra 2 points and going above 3 other teams in the table. He can't play for draws every week which it very much sounds like he is from his interviews. He has to be brave himself and trust he can make changes which positively affect the game. Otherwise what is the point of him being a manager?

Leceister are a side worse than us, bar a few good players who would walk in to our side, they were there for the taking last night.
Let's be honest here, anyone who watched that game last night and tries to claim we play for a draw has an axe to grind and isn't making any attempt to hide it.

Yeah, we definitely played for the win - there was aggression, and tempo in our play that I really liked given the stakes

Shots are all well and good but when they're low quality like Doucoure smashing it over the bar, Gana smashing it over the bar, McNeil floating one straight at the keeper from 25 yards out are pretty meaningless.

He needed to change something, either tactically or players. The was a big opportunity there and he didn't take it.

Burnley fan here,

Interesting observations regarding Dyche, it would seem that you have him sussed out already.

You have already seen what Dyche offers tactically it will not change, it didn’t with us. In game management is also very poor/non existent, his usual go to is a couple of like for like changes on 80 something minutes. He has his favourites and will not deviate from them unless they are injured or suspended no matter how bad their form is.

On the flip side Dyche is a good man manager and getting a side fit. His first season with us when he took over from Howe wasn’t great, pretty much what you are seeing just now when we finished lower mid table, however once he was afforded a summer to bring in his players it changed. We were the biggest, fittest side in the league and basically bullied teams into submission.

The football has never been great to watch but winning ( not losing ) football is always better than playing neat ineffective football ( Howe style for us )

my personal opinion is that if you afford him time he will put you in a better place and stabilise your club. If you survive this year then you will be ok next, if you are relegated I’d be confident he’d bring you straight back up.

At the point he stabilises your club is the point where you need to move him on and bring in someone more progressive to build upon his foundations.

Best of luck, it’s going to be tight I think you will pull an unexpected shithouse win from somewhere.

Also wouldn’t be surprised ( providing Dyche is still in charge ) if Charlie Taylor joins you on a free in the summer from us.

A proper Dyche player, 6ft left back with a bit of pace and works well with McNeil on the overlap. He’s just not a Kompany type of player at all.

100% Ashley Barnes will be his first signing

Lampard 15 points from 20.

Dyche comes in. Gordon sold, who was our joint top scorer at the time, and no reinforcements. DCL only makes 4 appearances. 14 points from 14.

So that means there were 8/9 games that were better than poor?

Looking at those poor performances, Arsenal, RS, Man U and Newcastle are top 4 (ish) teams Fulham is in the top half. What do you realistically expect the 19th best team in the EPL to do?

Leicester had 15 minutes, we had 75.

I know we WANT more, but that does not equate to we SHOULD GET more.
