This is on the manager for A) bringing that player to the football club and B) ignoring the younger options that continue to sit and rot on the bench week in week out. So another narrative that he’s conveniently spun that we have no possible alternatives and his hands are tied.

Why are they even in the squad, Mike? They would be gone if recruitment wasn't a complete nuclear meltdown. I don't excuse Dyche from that, by the way. I have no doubt he is also part of that process...

However, fundamentally, there can be no doubt that our squad has been run into the ground during an extended crisis. And while a new manager with this squad might have us play better football and might have us earn a similar or even slightly better return of points, people are smoking their socks if they think there's a manager out there who will have these donkeys 15 points better off playing exciting stuff. The risk-return ratio isn't favourable enough for the board to act even in the positive scenario outlines above just yet.

But when they do act, they'd better be ready to splash some serious cash. And before they do that, they'd better be sure they have somebody who knows how to recruit methodically. Because I'm not sure that expertise exists at the club right now. Burn it all down!
