2024/25 Sean Dyche

I mean it does happen though doesn't it? I'm not even defending Dyche because I thought saturday was really poor, but managers do stick big lumps up front for short periods on a fairly regular basis, it's not really high on the list of things to be concerned about for me.

Does it? Ace, who does it?

Our manager being so tactically incompetent that playing a centre back up front is his plan B, is actually high on my list of concerns I can’t lie.

A defeat this weekend hopefully coincides with the takeover being sorted and we can get it done over the international break. I understand that’s probably a dream scenario and not likely to happen.

Agreed. makes sense to do it over the international break.

West ham look as bad as us so a loss there would hopefully get him the sack.

He spent a fortune at wolves, remember dyche has had limeted funds and that counts for quite a lot apparently to all you dychette’s
And first 2 seasons in the prem they had no injuries, basically he was picking the same 11 for 2yrs.

As I said mate. All about opinions. I'm not convinced he's a top, top manager or anything, but he's decent enough. You're missing the point though. People had the pitchforks at the ready when he was heavily linked with us. Now a poster is holding him up as a shining light.

One thing I'm absolutely certain of though, is that I bet most people now wish we'd appointed him instead of Benitez or Lampard, and no doubt Dyche too. Nuno has more than proved himself a very capable manager. Is he a top top manager? probably not, but once again, a lot of fans, and their opinions, were wrong.

Never said I wanted him, but he plays better football than Dyche. His players also seem a lot happier than ours on the pitch. Might be how he talks to them and about them perhaps?

He's a decent manager. The point made wasn't really directed at you mate. I have no idea if you had a pitchfork with his name on it in 2021.

Quite a lot of teams do it in the last few minutes of games, you must have seen it surely?! Like I said, i'm not saying it's a great tactic or anything, but suggesting no other teams would ever do it seems a bit mad to me when they blatantly do.

I can’t remember the last time I saw someone other than us move a centre back up to play as a centre forward, no. It seems like you’ve seen it loads though so surely you can find some examples.

Unfortunately, I think that once the takeover is completed (hopefully very soon) they will give Dyche a handful of matches to prove himself. I hope I'm wrong, but I think a manager switch is much more likely at the end of December, beginning of January.

Well not really no. I haven't kept a spreadsheet of the times i've seen it, it's just something that happens reasonably often in the last few minutes of a game. I would imagine that in a couple of weeks time (if not already) Southampton fans won't remember that Keane went up top for us on Saturday, and in the same way I can't remember specific instances when i've seen it. I can't really stress enough that you don't have to go all hard hitting journalist on me here, I have no dog in the fight I just didn't really agree that nobody ever asks their centre half to stay up top and win a few headers in the last few minutes. I think getting into a situation where that is a tactic you need to employ on a regular basis because you're so often behind is an issue, I don't really think doing it once that situation arises is a massive deal, but I do accept that i'm not a football purist.

He went forward for a corner, he didn’t go up and play as a striker. Try again.
