2024/25 Sean Dyche

I truly believe that the squad we have is far better than they're allowed to show under Dyche. It's as if his team selection and tactics are aimed at proving his perceived view that he has a poor squad to choose from and that managing to scrape enough points together to keep us up will be an achievement. It shouldn't be, the players we have should have plenty enough to pick up a fair amount more points than we have up to this point and should have easily accounted for Southampton (twice) with more competent selections and team set-ups. If his team-talks are anything like his press conferences our players' confidence must feel crushed before they step out on the pitch.
100 per cent this. He is preparing the ground for his sacking so he can go onto MNF etc saying look I had to pick two keepers on the bench every week.

No that continues to be your choice.

Even if we scrape some form of lucky win, I’m telling you now, it will be through god awful football and West Ham completely bottling it.

Suggesting it’s tarks that should come out instead of Keane and playing them in different positions. You really are a poor man’s wum.
Some of the takes of us are absolutely mental.

Keane plays 2 games were we dont conced 3 and all of a sudden, he's 'doing well'. Even from level headed fans.
Yet all i hear is about how it should be Tarkowski getting taken out for Branners, thats not how centre back partnerships work.

Branthwaite would be the cover for Tarkowski, while Tarkowski would go and attack the ball, any dip in form from Tarkowski is due to him having to play the Branthwaite roll instead of his natural roll at centre back.

I also agree with your point of even if we scrape a couple of wins, its not good enough. For me, the damage has been done. We have been fine tuned to think that any win is an absolute banger of result as they can be rare, we tend to get very excited about a change of form, it works with players too, they can be dreadful for 7 years and then show the tiniest sign of being competent, its a huge redemption arc!

2 wins against West Ham & Brentford will help us massively stave off the dogs at the door for now, but i'd imagine it would just be a matter of time before we revert to type with harder fixtures coming up.

Imagine the absolute gaslighting in part 2 of this.

Doesn't matter who's on the bench to be fair since he despises making changes. That would be an indication he's made a mistake to begin with. Sean can't be having that.
It would be hilarious if he just puts Beto, Harrison & Coleman on the bench this weekeend

'Whats the point in picking 9 subs when I'm going to bring Beto & Harro on at 72 minutes and Seamus is there for the half time team talks'

I believe he’s refusing to play Ndiaye in the 10 for this exact reason. He doesn’t want his tried and trusted “Premier League experience” line to be shown up for the crock of wank that it is. I truly believe he’s the type to put his own ego before the team’s results.

Be that as it may. It is still a waste of one bench slot that could be better utilised to incentivise and promote youth.

Knowing the incumbent will never play them anyway, it offers first team squad experience to prospects.

Never understood it myself.

I recall a manager saying it's to do with pathways/they only want to get a player in the senior match day squad at a certain stage of their development - if ever.

Perhaps psychological backwards step to end up back at u21s after being in senior squad.

But better managers than Dyche will ever be have/do it - including at Everton with better squads.

It's a difficult one though, especially with under 21 games often being on the same day now. There's no point just picking a random kid to put on the bench for the sake of it, you want them to have earned it in some way. Some of our best prospects have left either permanently or on loan now, Armstrong is already on the bench and Dixon appears to be the next highest rated but we've already got 2 right backs on the bench anyway so whats the point in calling him up again. I'm not saying we shouldn't do it but I just don't see it as a big deal at all.
