2024/25 Sean Dyche

He’s mentioned that a few times, that it’s the midfielders that are the issue. But Doucs and McNeil often defend/press (loosest possible sense) alongside Dom, leaving the 2 sitting on their own anyway. We concede so many off turnovers, so it’s not even making us solid in the middle.

Fundamentally he’d rather lose 1-0 than lose 4-3. Which is fair enough, but the margins are so fine. One single defensive lapse in 95 mins and you lose. One single missed big chance and you lose or draw a game you should win.

He’s setting us up purely to counteract our weaknesses as he sees them, which must be draining on the players. We do have strengths. At Burnley there was more balance; play to their strengths and don’t attempt things the players can’t do. Maybe he’s permanently waiting for us to get mid table before opening up a bit, but it’s a vicious circle as we can’t get enough wins to break free and all other teams now try to attack.

Summary: paradoxical 🔔🔚

What era are you lot from where you're asking us to play 442 lmao, Proper Mike Basset couch watchers suggesting that.
Don't think people are advocating it but moreso 'might as well'. We hoof to DCL who is on his own who may win a header..........to whom. With 2 up front we would have a better chance of causing problems to the CBs rather than DCL battling on his own. Dyche plays long ball to just one player so what many are thinking is to go all in and do the hoof ball properly by having 2 up front. If Dyche could play other ways then certainly 4-4-2 would not enter the minds of fans, but he can't.
