2024/25 Sean Dyche

We always seem to turn up against these so called bigger teams. We have beaten Chelsea at home last year, Liverpool, we have beaten Arsenal twice in the last three seasons at home, it’s only City who we get battered by but who knows.

We shouldn’t be to down hearted about these games. But yes, a win against Brentford, a point at United and a win against Wolves would have us all feeling a bit better. The stadium needs to rock against Brentford and Wolves though. I still feel like for the final ever season at Goodison it’s not been great.

The reason why it is not great, is because the style of football he employs absolutely kills any atmosphere before a balls been kicked. The crowd knows full well regardless of whoever we play, we will surrender the ball from the 1st minute and watch the other team build their way into the game knocking it about gaining confidence.

The only way to get Goodison going is to get in their faces from the off, get the tackles in and get the ball forward to attack.

This passive nonsense that he wants will never ever get the crowd going (any crowd).

... Does not equate to "I've not coached him at all."

Ultimately if he’s improved, and he has, and is now our best player worth potentially a world record fee for a CB, why does anyone care what Dyche did or didn’t do?

He was brought back in from loan, put in the first team, and we now have an asset worth a huge amount as well as an extremely good centre back, yet people are banging on about how fit he was or wasn’t first two games of last season, or how much Dyche does or doesn’t coach him.

What does it matter if the outcome is a good one?! Alex Ferguson was probably sat in his office not even watching training whilst Ferdinand and Vidic were forming a partnership. It doesn’t matter, it’s just yet another really weird thing that some people will twist themselves into knots over because they can’t override their default factory setting of hating Dyche.

Didn’t say he was careful not to overcoach him. Said he left him alone a lot.

Literally said -

“Sometimes you can outcoach it from them, you know and Jarrad, I left him alone a lot of last year, you know I was a centre half and I normally do quite a lot of work with the centre half’s, but he was going along fine an I thought no no just leave him.”.

Please don’t make stuff up.
Believing what the manager says in a press conference is fine, as long as you’re consistent. If you want to take stuff like this at face value but then doubt other things that he says then it’s disingenuous, and I think we both know you don’t trust everything he says.

Absolutely. Whatever his method with Branthwaite, it's hard to argue with the results.

I think he needs to drop Dom. I think he needs to maybe consider N'diaye on the right and Lindstrom coming inside from the left or Harrison out there getting crosses in whenever he can. I'm not worried about what's going on with Branthwaite.

Lol, you've stopped comparing Dyche with Pep now and moved on to Alex Ferguson. You are the gift that keeps on giving.

I trust very little he says (such as “having no options” etc). However with this, based on things others have said, including current players, it fits “the story”.

I also don’t have to believe everything he says. I don’t believe absolutely everything that anyone says. It doesn’t make it disingenuous. But I’ll look at the corresponding evidence around it and decide what I believe.

Theres nothing wrong with comparing certain aspects of managers or even (as done here) those overviews which lend themselves to an overall point.

I could even compare Mike Walker on his sunbed to Sean Dyche.

All day this, especially when his turgid plan A-Z is clearly not working.

He could try a 3-4-3 with 3cbs.

Maybe 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 even.

Change it during a game as well ffs.

We have options, he’s not bothering with them.
That would require coaching the players at Finch Farm in playing the new system. There's no time for that, they're too busy getting injured on the training ground with the SAS style training regime. Seriously though, I have thought for a few weeks now that, as we are light in midfield and impotent in attack 3-5-2 would be our best bet, it allows us to have 3 in midfield, were we just can't control the game with a 2 and gets us 2 players up top, currently whoever is up top is isolated.
.
Bring in either Keane, O'Brien or Mykolenko as a third centre back. Two from McNeill, Harrison, Patterson and Dixon as wing backs. As much as I don't like 3 at the back, with our players, it has to be worth a try
