2024/25 Sean Dyche

It isnt, because it isn't true. I wanted us to sign Wood because of his record at Burnley and was laughed at on here.

In fact I've shared my view a lot that Newcastle activating his release clause that January kept us up, and relegated Burnley. Even if he had a slow start that season - he scored 1 in 3 during his time there and they couldn't repeat that. I think if they kept him, they'd have stayed up and we'd have gone down that season.
That’s fair, hopeless is a bit strong however, I do think the general point of the tweet is valid regarding dyche and his tactics and his ability to improve players. Wood is a decent striker with around a 1 goal in 4 games record in the top 2 divisions, but now, under a half decent manager he is averaging a goal every 2 games and looks twice the player he has ever been.

Indeed. The debate is around why and who is to blame for it being crap.

If we say Dyche, then we perhaps should acknowledge on the same table we were even more crap before him so maybe he's not entirely to blame now.
He isn’t entirely to blame but he is part of it now. Got a decent return last season. But it’s gone very stale and he seemingly doesn’t know how to win at football now. At least we had two purple patches last year of winning games. This seasons purple patch has so far been a few draws.

There's people who blame him entirely. In my view they're wrong - which is why I showed the same table with data before him.

It's on the new owners now to make a call that the club have been unable to make for a long time now.

Click the tweet mate the guy who posted it is backtracking after a lot have informed him it's not true. He's now claiming he was on about type of goals scored. That's a nonsense IMO - I've been a big advocate of Wood for a long time and he just a good player but getting more attention now than when he was scoring 1 in 2 and 1 in 3 for Burnley because Forest are doing well.

If you want to point at any manager for not getting anything from Chris Wood, then it's Eddie Howe.

I always think back to when we decided to sign Josh king instead of going for Callum Wilson. While Wilson is injury prone, he always scores goals when he is fit. I wouldn’t have wanted him to replace DCL but having the two of them rotating (as he had been doing with Isak when Isak first signed, would have us in a much better position now.

I never rated wood too highly, but when they signed him and Wilson got injured, they had an actual striker to play whereas we were sticking wingers up top and calling on rondon.

Recruitment has killed us since Koeman.

It's why I loathe to see so much put on Dyche, or even Thelwell.

Moshiri, Kenwright and the frauds around them is what has killed us.

It's now up to TFG to invest and move us off life support.

Both things can be true in this case.

Recruitment has been awful, as you say, hard to blame 1 person for that, there is probably 10+ people to blame for that.

But also the managers tactics are stale, rubbish, he clearly cant motivate a fart in a lift, the whole team plays with a frown.

Which is easier.

1. Replacing a whole squad in 1 window with no money
2. Replacing a failing manager
