2024/25 Sean Dyche

Do you know that he didn’t?

I know a lot on here hate Dyche to the point they’ve lost most of their critical faculties but the contract he has isn’t my opinion, it’s the resultant fact of the negotiation

Now we can assume that Everton, who have no money, just went to him out of the blue ‘do you want this ludicrously high contract?’

Or

They probably had a series of negotiations between Thelwell and Dyche’s agent which presumably ended up with them meeting some where in the middle of what Everton wanted and what Dyche wanted for the risk profile of the job. Considering the size of the salary I’d say Dyche won that negotiation as he was in the stronger position. Everton were desperate, you’d have to be a moron to think we weren’t at that time.

But sure we can all imagine that Everton started at that ridiculously high salary and Dyche who is an unemployable bum who has never had a so how job offer in his career just received it and accepted it immediately. Yeah that does fit the agenda better actually so let’s pretend that‘s not even just probable but is actually the only version of the truth.

No then?

Thanks

I’d say the contract if true, is a result of no one wanting to work here mate, if there were candidates banging down your door, no way the club would have agreed to that clause and we had to throw money at it to get a deal over the line.

It also explaines the zany clause Bielsa wanted about kicking back for six months and working with the U21s.

It’s simple supply and demand. Not many people want a job with minimal upside and a ton of downside unless they’re going to be heavily compensated for it.

That’s it really, if it’s true, there is no way the club would have agreed to it, if they were beating people of with a stick.

It’s a stunning deal, get your contract paid +5 mill, there is just no other logical explanation.

I wonder how we would be viewed in the managerial market now by candidates?

Do you think Emery went for the Villa job or Villa went to him? Set your standards high and you may attract someone good, instead of settling for mediocre

I can’t imagine that’s the contract. That’s just a bridge too far in terms of credulity. As you say, you do it once then a bit like what we did with players early doors under Moshiri when all clubs over inflated the values of their players because we came knocking, managerial candidates would now follow suit. There is no way the club would leak that story due to the embarrassment and I doubt Dyche’s camp would leak it. None of it makes sense.

We went for Emery under Moshiri didn’t we? Not sure where he would have been at the time, so maybe the timing wasn’t right, but it was certainly rumoured we went for him and Monchi

It's not like we don't have form for chucking cash at managers.

Allardyce absolutely had our pants down as well. I rather think if you've got a decent representative you fleece Everton. You'd be mad not to be pointing to what we've paid predecessors.

I don’t remember us going for Emery, we definitely went for monchi though, very early on in Moshiri’s reign. Maybe some media reports were linking us with Emery because of monchi

They were in a completely different position to us. Completely different squad quality, completely different ownership, completely different finances.

We would have had more options if we’d fired Lampard earlier but once we were in the position we were in the number of options would have been reduced.

I don’t know in all honesty mate. I’m just responding to the rumour in truth.

If it true, I’d say no body wanted the job, negotiations were in the candidates favour and the club reasoned +5mill in compensation was better then then loosing 100 mill getting relegated, at the time we were in the middle of the transfer window, getting cut a drift and were facing into Feb.

If my memory is right Dyche also got a 5 mill bonus for keeping us up - or rather that was the report at the time.

If all the above is true, it’s a stunning deal negotiated and we were really struggling to get candidates.

Yep we've set a precedent now. Club needs a phoenix from the ashes type rebirth with BMD, new owner, board, outlook on recruitment (I think Kev is trying to do that now).

I don’t think we could be in a worse position than we were.

The squad is better now

The FFP position is better

Any manager would have almost a full season ahead of them

I don’t think any manager will commit long term until the ownership is resolved

I don’t know mate, thats an anomaly. In the accounts we generally only paid compo on the contracts - if the report is true compo is relevent + a payment, I don’t think we’ve gone there before. We’ve paid compo on contracts for sure but not that + a payment. If it’s true - I’ve no idea if it is.
