I wonder if any other teams have one standout diabolical player that the fans absolutely hate and who statistically destroys the team's entire defence every time he is selected? The manager obviously knows this, so no idea why he refuses to change it when alternatives are available.
Because if he starts O’Brien and he performs well and the defence is more solid, then it’s an acknowledgment that he was wrong, which absolutely can’t happen under any circumstances. Same reason Dixon isn’t allowed to play ahead of the geriatrics.
Does he know it? The only stat he's ever mentioned was xG and that's cuz it was favourable to him - any other stat absolutely does not exist in Sean Dyche land. When it wasn't xG it was goals from corners for a few games I believe.
Also two reasons - he clearly doesn't have a favourite in Michael Keane, as I've been told repeatedly here, and he plays him "out of necessity" (
) and as Mike says - he will be proven wrong (as it won't be that hard anyway, Keane and Coleman/Young are mostly abysmal at this point). It's already happened with Dixon (who, according to Sean Dyche, isn't good enough as "there are no good players in the academy") - he came in and was honestly instantly better than either. At worst he'll make the same mistakes but actually has a chance to improve, but we don't do that as he's got no Prem experience, which he can't acquire because Dyche won't play him, which is a pretty good catch 22.It's okay though lads, with better players he's clearly improving the football and changing his ways, we played dreadful "football" last year as we had no other options after all, it's definitely not the same and even worse this year.

Yeah but let’s be honest here, O’Brien and Dixon could play as bad as Keane but the fans would never admit it.
Dyche has started the season exactly the same each year, plays Keane for a month and then he disappears for a season. Once Branthwaites back he’s out the picture again.

Well he's only cost us a bunch of points this season and Dyche wants to punch us down to another relegation fight anyway, so it's okay.
And we won't turn a blind eye, but we know there's room for improvement and that they're younger players. How many more games and goals/points do we need to concede just so, you know, Keane is no longer teacher's pet? Likewise Young and by extension Coleman.

If dyche can’t get us defensively sound and win games when we are two up, then there is zero point in accepting him as manager if Everton fc with his brand of disgusting, dreadful, negative hoofball.
